Ah Ghost sorry to hear this. You are such a good person. One day at a time...
Not sure on the good person part, but I appreciate it ma'am. When someone chooses their mental illness over their marriage and child at some point you have to take into consideration your child's safety over your overwhelming and crippling sense of responsibility toward the person you no longer know. Doesn't change the fact of still feeling like a failure though....strange days.

The sad truth is you can't help or change someone who doesn't want it, too. The failure isn't yours.

I'm a newbie here but have really enjoyed reading and posting these last few days. When I read this thread, I see how friendly and supportive all of you are to each other and it warms my heart. I don't get out much because I have lots of health issues, but I feel quite at home here with people who share and care about each other. I'm so glad I found this site!

Yes ma'am. I'm having to learn that but it is not easy at all. Thank you for the kind words.
...bro, it's seldom easy to accept the failings in others that you have been with and loved for many years...you have invested your heart in it, and it would be unnatural not to feel some guilt when the wheels fall off...but, she has chosen this path to the exclusion of you and your child.....SHE made the choice, not you.....the logic of the LEO is still in you, and the perp in this case ain't Ghost19....you be there for the little fella and let fate dog her footsteps.....

1. If you had the chance to do it all again, tell me: would you? could you?
Depending on my mood the answer ranges from "Absolutely!" to "You couldn't pay me enough"...right now, if I'm honest, it's somewhere in between.

2. Are you a french fries or baked potato with your steak kind of person? Or no steak at all?
At home, baked potato. When out to eat, I choose fries.

3. Shower or bath? Morning or evening?
I love a hot bath for stress-relief any time of day but the kiddo has been on a destructive streak and he's breaking things faster than we can afford to fix them. Unfortunately, the tub is a recent casualty.
Showers at night for the foreseeable future.

4. What jewelry do you wear daily, if any?
When I go out I wear a bridal set (I don't have my original band....what a long story that is) but usually don't wear jewelry at home.

5. What is your very first memory?
Can't even remember

6. Do you/did you like your parents?
Ye . I love them.
I often don't agree with them on everything, but it would be difficult to find nicer people.

7. What do you wear to work?
Tank tops and little shorts in summer.
(Full time mom, gotta be comfy!)

8. Do you have any stickers on your car?
Never.

9. What's your favorite Summer Olympic sport to watch?
I don't watch sports, they bore me to tears.

10. What brand/flavor of coffee/tea/soda do you prefer during the summer?
I only drink water or tea (mostly Tetley or Lipton).

1. If you had the chance to do it all again, tell me: would you? could you?
Absolutely! I'd change a few things here and there but overall yes.

2. Are you a french fries or baked potato with your steak kind of person? Or no steak at all?
Baked potato and steak sounds heavenly.

3. Shower or bath? Morning or evening?
You mean I have to choose? :) I live in a very hot country so that's not an option. Showers all the way, both in the morning and the evening and sometimes one more in between.

4. What jewelry do you wear daily, if any?
Minimal.

5. What is your very first memory?
Who remembers that? I've no idea...

6. Do you/did you like your parents?
Yes. Over the years I've come to understand them better so yeah...

7. What do you wear to work?
Office clothes.

8. Do you have any stickers on your car?
Nope

9. What's your favorite Summer Olympic sport to watch?
I don't watch sports.

10. What brand/flavor of coffee/tea/soda do you prefer during the summer?
No soda. Instant coffee with honey and soy milk.

1. If you had the chance to do it all again, tell me: would you? could you?
No way.

2. Are you a french fries or baked potato with your steak kind of person? Or no steak at all?
I actually prefer mashed potatoes. But hubby likes french fries with steak, so that is what we have most often.

3. Shower or bath? Morning or evening?
Showers, in the morning. I have hair that does not behave after I have slept on it. ;-D

4. What jewelry do you wear daily, if any?
Wedding set on left hand, a mother's ring and my engagement ring on right hand. Small gold hoops and small diamond studs in my ears. I am too lazy to change my earrings very often.

5. What is your very first memory?
Have no idea. ;-D

6. Do you/did you like your parents?
Yes. My dad is awesome. My mom, we went through a period of years when we just didn't talk much at all. Different reasons behind that, but it is much better now. Our relationship is good now.

7. What do you wear to work?
I am just a mom and grandma, so t-shirts and jeans. If I ever do get a job outside the home, getting a proper work wardrobe will present a problem. :biggrin2:

8. Do you have any stickers on your car?
No stickers on my car. Not even a Broncos one.

9. What's your favorite Summer Olympic sport to watch?
I enjoy the swimming, gymnastics and volleyball. Both indoors and beach. By the time the shift to track events begins, I am pretty much done. I just have never enjoyed track.

10. What brand/flavor of coffee/tea/soda do you prefer during the summer?
Brands do not change for us just because it is summer. Folgers or Maxwell House coffee, Lipton tea. Only rarely have soda, but always Dr Pepper if I am having one.

I don't think we've had any new questions in a while - I'll give it a go.

It would be fun to answer with pictures!!

1. If you had the chance to do it all again, tell me: would you? could you?

Some things - but the cringe worthy things I would hope to have a 'do-over' on :rolleyes:

2. Are you a french fries or baked potato with your steak kind of person? Or no steak at all?

Steak from the barbecue - medium rare and baked potato with butter and/or sour cream

3. Shower or bath? Morning or evening?

Most days a hot bath but if in a rush a shower. I will often have a bath in the morning and then another one when I get home from the gym

4. What jewelry do you wear daily, if any?

Pear shaped diamond studs (only take them out to clean them) a necklace Andy bought me for Christmas with three diamonds and on my left hand a ring he got me last year for our 10th anniversary
It looks a bit like this but different:
pZALEPEPL1-19713629t240.jpg
Symbolizes past, present and future

(Gee - can you guess that my birthstone is a diamond?)

5. What is your very first memory?
My sister scaring me while my Mom held me in her arms.

6. Do you/did you like your parents?
I adored Dad - Mom and I went through a difficult period when I was in my teens but it got better after I came back from Basic Training in 1980

7. What do you wear to work?
Lulu Lemon yoga pants (usually black or another dark colour) scrub tops and comfy shoes

8. Do you have any stickers on your car? What are they?
A white heart sticker by the drivers side on the front window (I found it somewhere)

9. What's your favorite Summer Olympic sport to watch?
Diving is cool and I really enjoy gymnastics

10. What brand/flavor of coffee/tea/soda do you prefer during the summer?

I like a decaf skinny Carmel Macchiato as a treat or if it is from Timmy's (Tim Hortons) then a steeped tea with 2 sugars and two milks.

Thanks for the questions Holly!

1. If you had the chance to do it all again, tell me: would you? could you?
Maybe si, maybe no. Depends on what 'it' is.

2. Are you a french fries or baked potato with your steak kind of person? Or no steak at all?
Steak always. No potatoes--nasty things.

3. Shower or bath? Morning or evening?
Shower when I need it--usually morning, but sometimes evening

4. What jewelry do you wear daily, if any?
Wedding ring. Copper bracelet from my kids. Usually a small pair of gold earrings that look like daisies, given to my mom by my dad, and then to me after he died. Silver and opal cross, given to me by my niece.

5. What is your very first memory?
Being at the doctor to have a Q-Tip removed from my ear--I really jammed it in there. I can remember looking down at the exam bed, and I could see my round tummy, legs, and those old fashioned, really thick training pants. I know I was very small, because it looked like the bed stretched out forever past my feet. My mom says I was about 18 mos old when I did that, so that jibes.

6. Do you/did you like your parents?
Most of the time. My dad could be a hard guy to love--he was a very functional alcoholic for most of my life--but I loved him a lot. He gave me a spine that my brothers lack(ed), confidence, and self-respect, because he always believed in me. My mom is an enabler, God love her, but she loves us all very much (to the point of spoiling my brothers, unfortunately). It's gotten harder since her MS has started changing her personality; she's a different woman than the one I grew up with. Still, I'll always love her.

7. What do you wear to work?
Whatever I want, until I get an out of the home job. Then I'll have to spiff it up a bit :)

8. Do you have any stickers on your car? What are they?
Yup. One for my favorite coffee shop, one for our Arts festival, one for a local Americana music group, one for a new local bookstore. I might have one for my favorite local pizza joint, too--can't remember if that one fell off.

9. What's your favorite Summer Olympic sport to watch?
None.

10. What brand/flavor of coffee/tea/soda do you prefer during the summer?
Coffee--usually Maxwell House or a blend from the aforementioned coffee shop
Tea--Tetley, if bagged, but usually loose tea from the same shop: green, camomile, or peppermint
Soda--I rarely drink soda. If I do, it's usually a Coke.
