We have a 13lb turkey for 2 people. I looked for a smaller one, but then they get down to just the breast and hubby prefers dark meat. This is my first year doing Thanksgiving all by myself (stupid only getting Thursday off work, having to work Saturday and living 6hrs away from family).
Be careful stuffing the bird when it isn't cooked yet- you need to make sure the stuffing gets to 165F (which takes longer than the turkey getting to that temp) to kill all the Salmonella that drips out of the raw bird and into your stuffing.

Green with envy! I'm a hot mess - washing tablecloths and napkins, dishwasher's running, oven's self-cleaning, and place cards are printing.

Your enormous mod salary must be footing the bill for this, right? :D
I don't have a functioning kitchen at the moment, so didn't want the mess of clean up etc... paper plates for Chez Dana Jean

Karen is only cooking for us, not the whole extended family this year.
She did the whole big, big dinner last year, and told everyone to be here by 3 PM. They all got here like an hour later. None of then showed up to help with anything, and it made her mad.
Needless to say, Karen went off on everyone, and said she was never going to do that again.
No turkey, just a roast chicken because the turkey will get wasted. We all don't like it that much.

We're going to have.... let's see.... 17 or 18 people at our place. I enjoy cooking for that many, but what I don't enjoy is the cleanup. Grandma likes to pull the fine (inherited) china for a big dinner, but I put my foot down this time and said, for this many people, just the pots and pans will be cleanup enough. We're going disposable. She didn't put up much of a fight.

We'll have around 20 with me, hubby, daughter, my parents, then a slew of local friends. We do a potluck each year, but this year we decided to do something different. In addition to the small-ish turkey and traditional sides, I am doing my pulled pork BBQ and homemade baked beans, plus we have some award-winning Texas style chili coming to the party! Lots of adult beverages will also be served! Should be great! Hope everyone's day is just as they planned it.

We're having dinner at a relative's house and I'm bringing rolls, cranberries, and a pie. I'm going to cook a whole Thanksgiving dinner for hubby and me on Friday, though, so we can have lots of leftovers. That's the trouble when you eat at someone else's house… you don't get to keep all the leftover food!

There'll be our six, plus 2 brothers, a nephew and 2 nieces. In-laws for pie and coffee later. Youngest brother brings the good booze (good beer and High West whiskey), so I expect BH to have a hangover on Fri (he had his first since our storied youth last post-Thanksgiving. It had been so long that he didn't recognize it for what it was and thought he was getting the flu--lol.).
