I had many of those moments.

For instance: In the Marines, the beginning ranks go private, private first class (PFC), lance corporal.

Back in 1974, because I had education going in, I was a "contract PFC." My recruiter assured me that I already had a leg up on the ranks going in.

Well, cattle scat to that. I raised that question in the first day or so, because I was legitimately confused, and was told with a measure of sadistic glee and possibly some physical pain that no, everyone started out as private, and to keep my mouth shut, because who did I think I was, anyway?

Now, to be fair, three months later I did graduate boot camp with PFC chevrons on my collar, and I collected pay for the preceding three months at PFC rates. So I was technically a PFC the whole time. But compared to what the recruiter told me? Nah. Just another reason I don't trust salespeople.

Blade Runner (aka The Best Film Of All Time!! well...to me anyway)

Do you like the theatrical version (with narration) or the director version?

I like the director version much better. To me, the narration in the theatrical version is just explaining what is on screen. I liked the ending in the director version better too. Both versions have their fans so I'm just curious which you prefer.

This film seems to have a lot of versions. ;-D I missed this movie when I did my list but it should have been on it.

I prefer the 2007 Final Cut now, but prior to that my preference was for the earlier director's cut. That said, the original theatrical version was what I saw on TV back in about 1985, and it's the one that knocked my eyes out even if I didn't much care for the narration (even at the time I thought Ford sounded as if he'd rather be having his teeth pulled), so it's still special in that sense.

There are a lot of movies I have seen multiple times, but ones I seem to watch a minimum of once a year are:

John Carpenter's The Thing
Star Wars (first 6 movies - hated TFA)
Friday the 13th 1-4
Halloween
Alien/Aliens
Any of Romero's Living Dead movies, but especially Dawn of the Dead

I think most movie fans have some of these movies. You know, the ones you can recite line for line. I have many.

Here are a couple of mine:

Goodfellas - Do I amuse you? The best gangster flick ever IMO.

Land of the Lost (Will Ferrell) - I don't know why, but this movie just cracks me up every time I watch it.

The Princess Bride - I love this movie. Just a cool idea and execution. And hilarious. I have a fridge magnet with a pic of Billy Crystal's character saying "Have fun stormin' da castle!"

What are some of yours?
Hah! I don't know why either Hossenpepper, but I've watched Land of the Lost six or seven times. It's a hoot!
