It certainly looked and sounded authentic, but from what I understand he was an actual DI in the USMC.

Yes he was, back in the Vietnam era..I have a friend who went through Parris Island in the early eighties, and I asked him if it was as rough as it shows. He paled and said "Worse",this is a guy who kids constantly about everything, happy go lucky, but he didn't find anything humorous about the Island..
OUTSTANDING!!!! "I THINK WE'VE FINALLY FOUND SOMETHING THAT YOU DO WELL!!" So many classic lines in that movie...lol

I think most movie fans have some of these movies. You know, the ones you can recite line for line. I have many.

Here are a couple of mine:

Goodfellas - Do I amuse you? The best gangster flick ever IMO.

Land of the Lost (Will Ferrell) - I don't know why, but this movie just cracks me up every time I watch it.

The Princess Bride - I love this movie. Just a cool idea and execution. And hilarious. I have a fridge magnet with a pic of Billy Crystal's character saying "Have fun stormin' da castle!"

What are some of yours?

Haven't seen 7 pounds, but Forrest Gump is one of mine as is Castaway, though I haven't seen it in a bit.
Don't know if you'd like Seven Pounds... you might, I watch it over n over, I love the music in it. (play the soundtrack often while cooking)
It's a love story... I do so love me my mush. It's a tragic love story though... be warned. (Big, fat, hot tears, always.)
