I got all ambitious - why do I do this to myself? I made a copy cat recipe for PF Changs Sesame Chicken. Oh my, it is delicious. Everyone in the house loved it. But my gosh, my kitchen looks blown apart. Here's the weird part - you know how when you bread chicken for frying, you dip it in egg and then in flour? For this recipe you dip the bite size pieces of chicken breast in corn starch first and then into egg. Try that girls and boys. I'm a darn mess in the kitchen anyway, but this takes the cake. Then you have to pan fry the chicken and then pour the sauce over it and bake it for 45 mins, tossing it every 15 mins to make sure all the chicken is coated. It was truly worth it, because it was so good, but dang. I'm going to need another glass of wine before I start cleaning. I wish y'all could see it. It looks like Amelia Bedelia's been in here making a sponge cake. Oh, no vegetables. Sorry, the chicken took all my time. I did manage some rice, so have that and have an apple or a banana.

The creation muscle is flexing again, so I feel a need to make different dishes (lol--that's how it works for me: creativity in one area breeds creativity in others :D). Tonight it's jerk chicken kabobs and nectarine salsa with couscous, sliced tomatoes & cucumbers, and a simply dressed (olive oil and white basalmic) salad or minted cantaloupe. Smells SO good!

Grandkids are over, so something simple and fun.

Put the skillet on, threw in a pound of turkey burger, a pound of chorizo, and sliced-up poblanos, red bell pepper, white onion, canned Anaheim peppers, and black olives. Added garlic, chili powder, cumin, blackening spice, lemon pepper, black pepper, crushed red pepper, and cilantro. Heated up some wraps and some lime/jalapeno flavored refritos. Poured the mixture into the wraps, spooned the refritos over it, shredded some cheddar over it, and wrapped them up. They met with approval.

on grilled chicken, slaw, baked potatoes. Simple meal, but oh my gosh, this sauce is to die for. What sauce do you use?

Love sweet vidalia onion anything!

There's a bakery near me that makes a killer pasta salad that has a sweet vidalia onion and lemon poppy seed dressing. Very tasty! Their gold half-moons are the best thing ever though!

This is my go-to barbecue sauce. I use it for chicken, ribs, and barbecued chicken pizza. (Yes, it exists. It's awesome.)

Homemade whole wheat crust, pesto sauce, barbecued chicken, caramelized onions, spinach, jack cheese, drizzle with more BBQ sauce and sprinkle with blue cheese. *SIGH* I think this needs to happen for dinner tonight.

Homemade plain crust, plain tomato sauce (Hunt's is best), a truckload of chopped cilantro, sautéed red (or orange or yellow) bell pepper, caramelized onions, chunks of cooked chicken in BBQ sauce, jack cheese, more BBQ sauce drizzled all over - and a streusel of Romano on top.

Dang. We're good.

So, what's for dinner tonight? I'm going to try a copycat recipe of Panera's Broccoli & Cheddar soup, cheese toast and fruit salad. It's rainy and cool here, finally a great day for soup. Soup's always my favorite. Who goes to Longhorn Steakhouse and eats soup? I do, I do. French Onion.
I LOVE soup! The Man was a chef for many years, and his specialties were soups and sauces. It's a match made in heaven (lol).
