I'm currently reading Jodi Picoult's Nineteen Minutes. This is only my second book from her but she's quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. This particular title is about a school shooting, which is done by one of the students. It's an exploration of everyone involved and how things got to that point/the consequences after. Only 65 pages in and wow--Picoult already made my stomach drop. Few subjects in fiction upset me as much as school shootings.
That was the first book I read by her and I was riveted as well. Change of Heart is very good too.

I finished my re-read of The Chrysalids (aka Re-Birth) by John Wyndham. I read a lot of theological sci-fi when I was young and The Chrysalids is my favorite. I guess using today's genre lables, The Chrysalids might be considered dystopian or speculative fiction.

Now I'm re-reading The Kraken Wakes (aka Out of the Deeps) by John Wyndham. It has an alien invasion theme kinda like Day of the Triffids. It's really good. It was written during the Cold War so some of the ideas expressed are out-dated but they don't take away from the story.

Just finished Blake Crouch's Dark Matter, which was rather good and now starting The Book Thief. Wonder if it is as good as people say, only 60 or so pages in, but finding it quite quirky and charming so far :)

I read The Wayward Pines Trilogy, Run, and Abandon by Crouch and I've been wanting to read Dark Matter but the kindle price was higher than the trade paperback price so I put it off. I ended up ordering the paperback yesterday :)

If you like Wyndham go for it! The Triffids, The Midvich Cuckoos, The Trouble With Lichen, The Net, Chocky. He is one of the great SF writers IMO

Right now reading Venus Envy by Rita Mae Brown. It is situated in Charlottesville quite coincidentally..... It is about a woman who thinks she is about to die so she writes letters to friends and family telling exactly what she thinks of them because she don't wanna die a stranger. But she does not die, it was all a mistake and all her revelations, the premier one was that she was gay, come back to haunt her in her social life. Being gay is not a dooropener in the social circles she used to move in.

Try clearing your browser history and see if that helps.

I cleared my cookies and browser history, posted some likes to your latest thread, went over to the "I need help finding a title" thread and tried to "like" one of GNT's posts and got logged out :( That was a good idea though :)

What's strange is my name shows up in Members Online Now but the top of the screen says Log In. I'll try again tomorrow. Maybe Jordon is messing with something that will fix itself by tomorrow.

I'm wrapping up Empire Falls and I will begin The Secret History shortly. Today I pulled out paperbacks of Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All and A Summons To Memphis (Pulitzer winner) and will read them as well.
Empire Falls, which has a non-supernatural Needful Things vibe, may appeal to some of you here that favor that King book. muskrat osnafrank HollyGolightly AchtungBaby Tery

Thanks for the Information.
Sounds really Interesting
The German Title sucks, as always, but i bet its worth buying

Have you read We Need to Talk About Kevin? Yikes. That's a disturbing one.

That is weird. If you continue to have problems, be sure and let Jordan know in the Website thread with all the pertinent information he needs browser etc..

You're welcome. The German title sucks for Needful Things or Empire Falls? It's always interesting to see book and movie titles translations, haha.

They Suck for both
German Titles for Foreign Titles(Movies and Books) always Sucks.

Needful Things is "In einer kleinen Stadt" (In a small Town)
Empire Falls is "Schicksal einer Stadt (A Towns Destiny)

Sk`s The Dark Tower is "Schwarz"
Misery---Sie (She)
