Well it's good they had her say that instead of what was edited in . . .I'd never heard such a thing in my life and didn't know the full meaning until my cousin Goo-Goo told me!

I guess it serves me right that it scares me so. Me and Goo-Goo kinda slipped in to see the movie because we were underage. Back then you could bring a note to get in and some how she got one. I don't think the theater gave a damn back then anyway. I had no idea what I was going to see but just knew it was the movie everybody was talking about back then.
I saw it when I was around 15 in the theater with a friend. Her Dad took us (we begged him!).I had already read the book so knew what to expect but it scared the sh*t out of me!!!! I will not let that movie or book into my house!!

Who Am I - Pete Townshend

I'm through the childhood stuff and to where The Who are just starting out. I like to read auto-biographies and biographies but I always want to skip the first 100 pages and get to the interesting stuff. ;-D
Ha. I'm the opposite. I feel like the early stuff is so fascinating because once the person is famous, I feel like I know a lot of the story already. I love finding out about people's childhoods, their early influences and events that helped shape them.

Giving Medical Thrillers a try. Picked up Coma by Robin Cook. So far, interesting to read about the life of a resident doctor, and their troubles. Cook writes flamboyant and mildly entertaining prose
"Mildly entertaining" is a perfect way to describe his writing and books. I feel that way about John Saul as well. I've read most of his earlier books, but they are "mildly entertaining" at best.

The only Robin cook book I have red is Coma. I read it when it was released (in the 70s, I believe). Without giving anything away, lets just say the medical procedure they were doing in the book was kind of new, which made for an excellent thriller. The book probably holds up well today but I'm sure doesn't have the shock value it did in the 70s.

Yup, finished it. Although entertaining, it was extremely predictable. Maybe it was because I read it forty years later. We've become desenzitized to these subjects. But still, very pertinent subjects.

I've got "The Exorcist" on order, so while I wait for that to arrive in the mail, I'm getting stuck in to "Desperation" by some guy called Stephen King.

I've had a copy of that book for ages but have put off reading it because it's not considered to be one of his best. I've also avoided "The Tommyknockers" for similar reasons. So far, I'm really enjoying "Desperation" though.

I really want to get into her Outlander series! But I believe The Scottish Prisoner is about Lord John Grey?
It's the latest in the John Grey books, what she calls a SLIN (Shorter, Less Indescribable Novel), but still comes in at over 500 pages. There's now 3 novels for JG, and a few novella's and shorts. They're all good. Preferable also if someone didn't want to read 8 novels that stretches to an average of 1200 pages each!

Thanks! I wasn't sure if I hade to read them, too, (in Diana's specific order, within the Outlander series) because I do know some characters make an appearance in LJ. Will have to LJ a go, as well! :)
