I just finished Lolita and I plunged straight into the last pages of a Tad Williams fantasy novel. Finished that one too and now I'm wading through Saul Bellow's Hellfire. I'm gonna need a lot of cookies after this. Like some romance or a Christmas themed book.

I just finished The Walking Dead Vol. 22: A New Beginning.

Wow. This might be my favorite issue of The Walking Dead. It was totally unexpected and went into a whole new different direction. I love what Kirkman did in this issue, and what's headed. There are major changes and huge character developments. There's also an insane and quite crazy revelation regarding the zombies. I just really hope that this arc is included into the TV show. Very well done.

skimom2 did you read this yet?

I love, love, love, love, LOVE this series. Let me know what you think...
Oh, and have you read his Otherland series?

Well, it started slow, then picked up speed after about 200 pages or so, THEN, oh why, it turned into Lord of the Rings! I swear I can match most of the main characters in the book to that movie. I loved Lord of the Rings but if I know how this is going to end...it kinda spoils the fun. I might read book 2, not sure yet.

Funny enough, I have Otherland as well, minus one volume (forgot which one). I've heard it's good. It wasn't me who bought it.

It's pure fantasy and I first read it when I was quite a bit younger, I'm not sure, but it's possible that I read it before the LOTR.

I really enjoyed the Otherland series--the first few were great, very different from anything I'd read at that point.

The woods are lovely dark and deep
Not sure if I will actually get right into it, but I did just finish the intro to the uncut version of The Stand. I recall reading the original one when it first came out many years ago.

This should tide me over until Santa Claus brings me my copy of Revival!

You are in for a treat, Mz. Neesy, its been awhile since you read the abridged version and I know you will enjoy the uncut story all the more; it will be like a whole new story. Awesome.

I must have watched the movie a dozen times, and read the book, so this was a bit like deja-vu. I do like how he writes, and because I'm trying to read more fantasy (if you write fantasy you have to read fantasy, right?) it's very likely that I would read them at some point. They are chunky, that's for sure!
What did you like the most about these two series?

Well, Memory Sorrow and Thorn just kind of took me away from the world and I enjoyed Simon's (Seoman) character, I loved how he started from nothing and then, just grew.

Otherland really challenged me, I read it at a time when I had very little concept of the Internet and those kinds of connections, it opened a few pathways for me.

If you write/read fantasy, have you read any of Raymond E Feist's books? (Specifically the books around Midkemia?)

Simon is an interesting character. I can see he's going to achieve great things. He must be someone very important, and the mystery surrounding his birth left a nice gap to be filled in later. I like Binabik the troll a lot, and Qantaqa, the wolf.

I haven't read any of Feist's books. Looks like I should take notes.

I am STILL slogging through The Vines by Christopher Rice!!! I am not one to leave a book in midstream or read more than one book at a time so this is becoming a real chore. The writing is just so mundane. Only 44% more to go... woo freakin' hoo.
boyoboy you deserve a gold star. Reading should not be work.
