My son and I started reading these together several years ago. (I read aloud to him.) We're about 1/4 into the last book! Such a special time between us. He's almost 14, and still asking me to read to him. :)

That's so sweet, Danie! My daughter (now 18) started reading them before I did. I thought they were just "kids' books" until one day I didn't have anything else to read...I was hooked.

Oh you have to! My favorite series. The movies are ok, but the words...such a good story.
Yes, Morgan, you must read them. I agree with you, 80s, that the movies are just okay.
The words...just beautiful.
The guy who does my hair is a HUGE fan. He said the word "muggle" to me once and I thought he was talking about some new wave mullet hairdo! ;-D

This is next in line for me at the library!!!! Details? Please?
A more modern "The Exorcist" type book. Never heard of the author before, I looked him, he's wrote a few crime novels, but I'll be honest, he really knocked it out the park on his first attempt at this kind of book. The book keeps you off balance and wondering about the characters. It's one of the better books I've read over the last couple of years, Mr. King's books not withstanding of course:)

Last night I started The Gold Crew byThomas Scortia and Frank Robinson- they're the authors of The Glass Inferno (basis for the movie he Towering Inferno). It's about a nuclear submarine crew and how they react to their mission, which is to launch nuclear weapons at Russia, during a 'test' mission in which only three people on board know that it's actually just a test. Should be quite interesting...
