Stopped after nr 3. Hearing all of you talk... Have i done a mistake?
Maybe :) I think the first three were written for elementary school age, while the next 4 moved up to middle grade or h.s. My personal favorite is Goblet of Fire (#4), followed by Deathly Hallows (#7). #5 needed another serious edit--there is a lot of filler/stuff that doesn't advance the story--but it also has a lot of information that you really need to know for the last book.

I'll consider giving them another shot..

I just finished reading a french canadian best seller named ''La Justicière''. This book was written by a Québec guy who had never published before, and it became a ''quadruple'' best seller in less than one year. Over here in Quebec, it's quite unusual. This is story about a woman who decided to kill slowly and very painfully any guy who escaped from justice and were indeed guilty of horrible crimes. She's some king of Dexter. I have read it because Marc Aubin the writer, is one of my publisher's successful author. Marc wrote a super novel, but I shoud add that you need to have a good strong heart to read this kind of stuff. I couldn't read it in a few days, because I had to catch my breath once in a while. So, if any of you guys can read french, I recommand La Justicière. Here's a link to order it, if interested. Marsha you can delete my post, if this is forbidden here. I wont be mortified. :) http://leseditionsdelapotheose.com/Marc-Aubin-auteur.php

The woods are lovely dark and deep
Just finished The Fifth House of the Heart by Ben Tripp, it was fast moving, filled with wonderful characters, lots of humor; best vampire book I have read in a long time, the last being 'Salem's Lot. Next I will be reading on my tab The Delicate Dependency by Michael Talbot; this book is touted to be the best vampire story of all time!!

Oh, cats and kitties, boils and ghouls, I am just having myself one heck of a gory old time with these beautiful EC Archives books. Volume three of Tales From The Crypt arrived today. Some of the best comics ever created, six issues per each hard-backed volume, in glorious remastered color. Artists like Graham Ingels, George Evans, Jack Kamen (who did the cover for Uncle Stevie's Creepshow book), Will Elder, Al Williamson, and my favorite, JACK DAVIS!

CREEPSHOW indeed--the REAL Creepshow. I dare say, had these incredible comics never been printed, Uncle Stevie might never have been inspired to write the stuff he writes.

Hmm...I'd like to have a gander at King's EC collection. He probably has all the originals, displayed on spinner-racks in his basement. That's what I'd do, had I HIS kind of bucks.

Now to start loading up on other Archives, like Vault of Horror, Haunt of Fear, Shock and Crime Suspenstories, Panic, Frontline Combat...*choke!* GOOD LORD!

Finally finished Lee Child's Never Go Back. If anyone would like to read it, PM me your address and I'd be happy to send it to you. I believe it's a first edition (in very good condition except for the thick red marker lines across the text block near the end bands - courtesy of the used bookstore :( ). If not, I will donate it. Not sure what to read or reread next.

There ain't nothing better than a dancing rat holding tail out of the way! Hope someone got it on tape!

I usually keep it taped down my right leg, outta sight, outta mind. The tail, I mean.

One Tin Soldier rides away, so say The Original Caste.

Got an adaption of Bradbury's There Was An Old Woman in this Crypt volume. Another sweet Gastly Graham yarn. Dig it.

I tried to watch the series, but it was so slow, I just couldn't stay motivated to care.
Probably wise. But some of the books are qoite good. Stieg Larsson is unthinkable without Mankell as a forerunner. But show a more gloomy picture of swedish society but Mankell does not have any Sallander. But try his Faceless Killers, Sidetracked and Firewall. three of his best. Worth reading. But they are crime novels and not really actionpacked. Things happen though. Wallander is no Jack Reacher.

The audiobook I have going right now (almost done) is Tarzan Of The Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs. This is one of the Librovox (not sure if I got the spelling right) public domain recordings. These are read by volunteers so it's hit or miss getting a good reader. The reader for Tarzan is very good.

I had never read this before and am enjoying it. If I would have been around in 1914 and read this when it was first published, I would have been anxiously awaiting the sequels. This must have been quite an eye opening book in 1914. I'm surprised at how brutal and violent parts of it are (considering it was 1914). The book has a great pace to it and is hard to set aside.
I read the first four Tarzan. The first is really good. Then they started going on routine after awhile and i stopped after the fourth. (Loved the comics too, espicially when drawn by Hal Foster, Russ Manning or Joe Kubert)

Aye, great artists who beat the 'dum-dum'. Also, Burne Hogarth did some great Lord Greystoke. Jesse Marsh did a bunch, but I never much cared for his style.

Oh, and Big John Buscema did some decent Tarzan for Marvel.

I liked Hogarth drawings but i had problems with his way of of not using speakbubbles. I know that a guy called John Celardo did did a lot but never liked him. And someone named Bob something. Never seen Marsh. or Buscema.
