Currently working my way through Bazaar of Bad Dreams and thoroughly enjoying it; even the stories I've already read.

Previously, I read Margaret Atwood's latest, The Heart Goes Last. I had originally read some of it in electronic installments when it was first published. The finished novel is lacking somehow; it was less than I had expected. That said, it's still quite good and of course, it being Atwood, is written beautifully. I would recommend to Atwood enthusiasts, but not first timers.

The NY Times had its 100 Notable books of the year. And perusing said list it reminded me how very simple it is to purchase books nowadays. And on your e-reader a click or two and it's instant gratification, damn the financial consequences!

damn the financial consequences! Oh, don'tcha know, it is so easy, especially when Amazon has all your info! Two clicks and you are a new owner of the latest title!!!! I usually try to find a title at the B&N where I have gift cards or at the library but if those leads are a no go, I gotta double click!

Gutted my way through the ridiculous review book. I don't think I've snorted at a story or thrown a book down in disgust so many times in quite a while. Unrealistic characters spouting ridiculously florid 'dialogue', and not one actual person amongst them. The history was well-written, I will give it that, but that's about all. Now flying through a vampire romance (lord help me), and it's better in 16 pages than the other was in 622.
So let me be absolutely sure. You didn't like that first one, right?

Just finished: The Ideal,Genuine Man -It kept my attention and the ending bumped up my opinion of it a bit but I would not suggest anyone read it around the holidays.

Now Reading: Ready Player One-I LOVE this book! I had it on a PBS wishlist ever since it came out( ALOT of people are wishing for it) and happened upon an ARC of it at a library sale.I feel like I am strolling through my childhood.I don't know if people who didn't live through the 80's would enjoy it so much because of all the referneces.I guess I am the perfect age to "get" most of them.Virtual Reality? Yes please:0:

Did you like Don Robertson's 'voice' tho? He is one of my most favorite authors. I agree with you that The Ideal, Genuine Man is not one that will give you that 'feel-good' feeling. It's definitely a downer. But, it's also one of Don's strongest books. I lived in that same area in Texas where the story takes place and Don got it perfectly right.

Having never heard of this book nor the author, I did a Google search and came up with this very interesting article. Who knew? Certainly not I.

Oh, where have you been? =D I coulda told you allllll about Don Robertson and his connection to Steve. This was the first and (so far) only time King has published another author. Don was one of King's best-loved authors and was a HUGE influence on his writing (along with Richard Matheson). You couldn't go wrong by reading one of Don's novels. He's a wonderful storyteller. I highly recommend his Morris Bird III novels- they are trilogy which has recently been re-published as paperbacks. Look them up!

I did indeed like his voice. The story just sort of meandered along but still kept me reading.I think if I were in the right kind of "reading mood" I might give another of his books a read.

I am about 90 pages into Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore. Anyone else read it? I am really liking the mystery surrounding the store and its customers, not so much enjoying all the modern tech inserted everywhere else. I get it is supposed to show differences in generations, blah blah blah. I want to know about the mystery, though! Should I keep going?

Started Killing Floor, the first Jack Reacher book, also first one for me. Only about 20 pages in but like it so far.

Sounds like a good read...adding it to my TBR list.
