All except Kurben and skimom2. They seem to start & finish a new book every other day!

I am DEFINITELY in this slump and have been for months. I took me forever to finish The Fireman. Currently reading End of Watch and while I am enjoying it, I can't seem to read more than a chapter or two at a time.

I'm not in a slump but my time to read is in the evening and I can't stay awake past 9:00 if I'm reading. This getting old crap is really frustrating. ;-D

Older people are supposed to need less sleep but I find myself dozing off when reading after 9PM. A lot of people complain of insomnia as they get older and have more responsibilities but I have always slept like a baby. My trouble is remembering what I've read. There are some books that I have read that I can't remember a single thing about.

It's not that I don't need less sleep, it's the fact that I can only sleep about 4-5 hours straight thru, then I wake up. Doesn't matter if I go to sleep at 8 pm or midnight, it's always 4-5 hours. Then I toss and turn for a couple of hours.

It sucks! How I long for a day when I can just sleep for 8-10 hours without an interruption. Maybe I should go have another colonostopy, that was the best sleep I had in ages!! =D
Hahahaha! I hear that.

If I sleep during the day, I can really sleep. It's the night time stuff. I was not made to sleep at night. Let me sleep about 3 a.m. to noon and I can get it. But, that's not how the world works for me.

I think I'm a creature of the night.

I had a colonoscopy about 8 years ago. I was so out of it from the anesthesia that apparently I started calling people from the recovery room. I don't remember any of it. I think I asked people to bring me a Dr. Pepper and talking about going to a funeral? (No one I knew had died.)
Later, when these conversations were told back to me I was mortified. I just had to laugh.

Still working on the review book (summers are hard, with the kids home so much), but I did read a short non fiction book rhat I really enjoyed while I had LilMan and a friend at the pool: ALL YOU NEED IS LESS. Can't remember the author's name (and I'm too lazy to get the Kindle out right now to check-lol), but it was an enjoyable book about practical ways to practice the 3 Rs. Very funny, too! I've seen or used many of the suggestions before, but there was enough unique information to get me thinking. Plus the writer is good at writing--not a given any more.

I recently read a short story that was packaged essentially as a little book (if you know what I mean); it's called The Strange Library. You can read it in one sitting. Pretty fun tale, although I am still trying to figure it out (if I recall correctly, the author is Japanese, so there is translation involved -- then again, I don't know that as a fact, maybe he wrote it in English, I'll have to research that). A friend recently recommended it to me.

I've already forgotten how The Fireman ended :(

Two endings? There are two endings? Two different endings? Heavens to Murgatroyd, I can't remember either one :( I'm so upset, I might spontaneously combust :adore:

Gimme a hint? :)
There is the regular ending where they sail off for an island off of Ireland and then there is another ending buried in the "Credits" in which one is lead to believe they make it to the island inhabited by others who can control the dragonscale.

I finished JONATHAN UNLEASHED (wildly improbable and out there, but funny nonetheless ) and started Gaiman ' s THE VIEW FROM THE CHEAP SEATS since I have a few days before I start another review book. He already made me tear up-lol. I read the interview with Mr. King (from 2012) first, and it was very interesting!

I finish White Oleander and although I enjoyed it I was not that thrilled with the ending.
I think I wanted to know more about how Astrid's life really turned out. I did feel that she did return to her mother and maybe went on to become a great artist but I wanted proof and I felt that after Janet talked so much about everything else in the book she could have done better for the ending. BTW . . .Janet and I share the same birthday. Still, it's great writing, but your mind has to be open to really 'get' some of it . . .if you need everything explained to you then you could find yourself a bit lost.
It's a good read . . .but heavy.
