Finished Run by Blake Crouch. So predictable. And poor dialogue made you believe that even for the author the characters were no more than names on a paper. Myself i did not care one bit if the persons lived or died. Just as long as the book ended i was happy.

I'm about ready to give up my search for a horror author who can make their characters real and draw you into the story like SK can. McDowell came the closest. Do any of y'all have a favorite horror author who comes close to telling a story like SK can?

I went back to reading cozy mysteries lol. I just read the fifth book in Susan Boyer's Lowcounty series. I wish she wrote faster, her stories are mindless fun :)

Noone is as good as King but i think Joe Hill shows real promise, NOS4R2 and the Fireman were good and he has just started his career. Might have his best thing in the future yet so really worth keeping an eye on.

Thanks Kurben :) I did love NOS4R2. It was very imaginative. The Fireman was ok but I had trouble with that twopid pebble thing. I'm anxious for his next book :)

....It's one that kinda creeps up on you and kicks you in the viscera....the first read gave me a straight out horror story feel, but on re-reading-I noticed how layered the "atmosphere" was......

well... I'm not too crazy about getting kicked in the gut but I do love horror with an atmosphere :)

(I had to look up the meaning of viscera lol)

This is a great ghost story with lots of atmosphere. I think you would like it, NBNP.

Errr...isn't The Mist a novella? Like, that 'foggy' middle ground between short story and novel?

Yes. Yes, it is. But, whatever...enjoy! You gonna like pretty gone fine, I theenk...
Hmmm, weird. Could have sworn there was a longer version of the story.
Where he ends up shooting his son and passengers to save them the horror????

The Ceremonies by T.E.D. Klein is a fantastic read- wonderful atmosphere there. Ghost Story by Peter Straub. Song Of Kali by Dan Simmons. Rosemary's Baby by Ira Levin. The Other by Thomas Tryon. Mine by Robert McCammon.
