I am enjoying the works of Octavia Butler.
Got a great book in Hawaii: Hula Sister; A Guide To The Native Dance Of Hawaii. It was written by an older woman (like me) who learned hula at about the same age. When I saw the words "It was love at first sight!" I knew I was on her wavelength. She points out that learning hula entails learning the culture and language of Hawaii. You can't truly dance hula without understanding those.
Also got a great book about snorkel spots on the Big Island. Sadly, many of the ones we want to try are in Kohala, an area that was really getting hit with the big surf. The words "only if calm..." put the kibbosh on those. Well, there's next trip to look forward to...

I actually forgot about Gwendy's Button Box until I checked my email and saw a notification from Amazon. Just got it for my Kindle. Need to finish American Gods first.
I wanted to read this again before I moved on to the other three. Temporarily postponed the Tartt book.
I love Larry McMurtry and his Duane books. Not to mention Last Picture show.
Same. His ability to mix "delight and dole" is almost second-nature for him. He's fun to read.
Very much so without being stupid.
I was laughing so hard tonight. I got to the part where Bolivar, the cook, was making his "coffee". It is mostly brown sugar with a few drops of coffee. Gus said when Bolivar went to the bathroom the pigs followed him because his droppings were so sweet.

I still haven't read The Fourth Hand, Until I Find You, and Avenue of Mysteries.
Ayuh, I've admittedly only read three of his novels

Finished In Harm's Way by Pearson. Started The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer. Could've sworn I read this already - but am about 60 pages in and am now convinced I haven't. The house is reminding me of the one in Usher's Passing.
You do know that Ridley is the author of TDOER, right?

I gave up Grisham long ago but A Time to Kill was my favorite for a time. Would you let me know if you think that Sycamore Row would complete ATTK ?
