I gave up Grisham long ago but A Time to Kill was my favorite for a time. Would you let me know if you think that Sycamore Row would complete ATTK ?
I haven't been able to get back to it for about a week- crazy hours at work and then had to set it aside to do a Gwendy's Button Box marathon. I'm about halfway though. So far it's good!

Reading two at the moment. Josephine Teys The Daughter of Time and Capetian France by Elisabeth Hallam. In The Daughter of Time Tey make a rather good case for Richard III. Turns out he is mostly not guilty of historys accusations. A case of History is written by the winners, That is the Tudors. She is convincing and writing in the form of a mystery novel. The other one is more pure history. About France and the Kings who ruled it between 987 and 1328 when the line died. One big reason for the Hundred years war since the english King (Edward III) claimed the french throne.

I'm supposed to be reading two books for review, but halfway through both I've bought a nice HB copy of the first two James Herriott books and can't tear myself away from them. I'd forgotten how much I like these gentle stories.

I also picked up a copy of Hilary Mantel's BRINGING UP THE BODIES, without knowing it was a sequel to WOLF HALL. Apparently it's a trilogy? Kurben , have you read the whole thing, and is it worth getting stuck in to?

I did like Bringing up the Bodies but i did not think it was up to Wolf Hall. I also heard it is supposed to be a trilogy but havent seen or even heard the title of the third book. All in all i say BUTB is worth reading. If you like historical fiction that is, but if you liked Wolf Hall i think you enjoy this one too.

Finished Different Seasons last night. I loved Rita Heyworth and the Shawshank Redemption and The Body. Those stories were pure magic. Apt Pupil and The Breathing Method were solid, but couldn't measure up to the other two. Overall, a great collection.

Starting Gwendy's Button Box today.

I love historical fiction, if it's well-done. I've read a few that have so many anachronisms that I shudder. I'll give this one a try, then, and look into this 'trilogy' situation.

EDIT: As best as I can ascertain, the third book, The Mirror and the Light, is supposed to be out this August. I have my doubts, though, since I haven't been able to pin down a date and these things are usually set many months in advance. It follows Cromwell's life from the death of Anne Boleyn to his own death (1636-1640, I believe).

I am no expert either on Cromwell or Henry VIII but i believe Mantel has done some solid research and used it well.
And, by the way, surely you mean 1536-40? A typo i'm sure.

Marvel Collectors Item Classics #4, from August, 1966. A giant sized reprint mag featuring early appearances of the Fantastic Four, the Hulk, Iron Man, and Dr. Strange, with art by Kirby and Ditko, on vintage, aged newsprint...ahh, I like to just cram my nose between the pages and inhale that intoxicating aroma.

I'm a comic sniffer from way back. Don't judge me.
