Just downloaded this one for my Kindle. Will be starting it today. This is my first experience, ahem, with Karen Russell. I have high hopes that this will not be my last though. All of her work sounds so interesting and right up my alley. Will report back once I am done.
Just finished Sleep Donation by Karen Russell. With the great reviews she gets I was psyched for this one, especially given the dystopian nature of the story. I have to admit, I was disappointed. I realize this was only a novella, but it really went nowhere. Plus, her writing is challenging, but not in a good way. To me she seems to be overwriting to make up for a thin story. I had such high hopes in finding a new author to follow. Oh well.

I am stuck on this Dirty Love book by Andre Dubus III. I honestly don't think I even took note of the title, just the author's name, when I picked it up at the library. I didn't read the flap. So far, there have been 2 stories about cheating spouses (1 who was an expectant father!) and a story about a young dowdy woman who finds love only to be completely disillusioned about how difficult being part of a couple is. The story I'm on now has something to do with some type of online sex thing.

Not my cup of tea whatsoever!!! And I am pretty disappointed because I really, really liked House of Sand and Fog by same author. Guess this is a lesson learned, I mean Dirty Love is the title!!!

I hate not finishing it but it is just not my thing at all.

The woods are lovely dark and deep
Well, lessee, finished Laura McHugh's Weight of Blood and Greg Iles's new tome is talking to me from the coffee table, BUT, Amazon just emailed me and said that my copy of The River of Souls the new Robert McCammon/Matthew Corbett series will be delivered to me on Friday. Today, Jeffrey Deaver's latest Lincoln Rhyme's story The Skin Collector hit the book stores and on my tablet I have three of Robert Masello's books yet to read, Private Demons, The Spirit Wood and Black Horizon.

I finally choked on the "The Strain" trilogy about two thirds of the way thru book 2.....blech.......not very good at all. Helluva start to the book but no teeth. Moved onto another Dan Simmons book, Summer of Night. Trying to get into this one but another slow going book so far. Trying to stick with it but so far not as good as Carrion Comfort, which was ok. Mr. King sets the bar pretty damn high....

Yes! the first episode is written by Stephen King and he also does a cameo in one of the episodes (not sure which one, however).
:thumbs_up::welcoming:

Does Ms. Mod know when Mr. King's cameo appears? I watch every episode so I know I won't miss it, but I like to alert everyone I know!

I just recently read on Lilja's Library that he is supposed to be making his cameo in the first episode of the new season.

I finished Telegraph Avenue, by Michael Chabon. An amazing read! I was totally immersed in the characters, language and I forgot it was a story. I've also begun a re-read of Clive Barkers, Imajica. It's one of those books that left an indelible mark on me, even after 23 years.
And I'm also sampling stories from Magic for Beginners, by Kelly Link.
