Good Friday afternoon!

I'm strongly recommending this even though I haven't watched it because ...I'm goofy, I have a couple of buds that watched it and really enjoyed it, the subject matter is always funny and I like crime. ;;D

American Vandal is now available on Netflix streaming.

Later!

(Have a good one.)

I watched two episodes of Mike Hammer (1997) Stacey Keach reprising his role from the 80's series.

It must be Hammer Time! I do like Stacey Keach. It's not the Mike Hammer from the iconic Kiss Me Deadly (1955) exactly, but a fun show. I could watch some of those.

Hi!

Just finished watching the first episode of American Vandal. It's neither good nor bad but I think they are setting it up for the good stuff. :) (Please tell me there will be good, funny, stuff.) I have to admit, hearing the D word so much and so often, it's desensitizing me. He11, by the time I finish watching the series (If I actually finish watching it) I may just be saying the D word in my every day conversations. Have mercy.

Later.

Oh! Happy Friday evening! Have a most excellent weekend.

Happy Friday back at ya!

I just finished watching Top of the Lake. I so loved Big Little Lies that I googled "what to watch if you liked ..." And Top of the Lake came up but it's only available on DVD at Netflix. But the planets aligned perfectly and arranged it to be on Sundance on Sept 10th. It seems to be 1 season, 6 episodes, and Sundance did them all in a row - hooray! It's a little gem from New Zealand. I highly recommend it.

Edit: Or Australia? She flees NZ to AU, but I don't know who filmed it. Bah. Is good.

Good Saturday afternoon.

I finished American Vandal and I liked it. It wasn't great but it's better than mediocre. They might make a second season and I'll probably watch.

Watching episode one of The Five. (IMDb 7.6/10 A mystery series created by author Harlan Coben. Jesse, a five year old boy goes missing, 20 years later his DNA shows up at a crime scene.)

I've read some books by Harlan Coben and they're pretty good, IMO.

I may go catch up on Project Runway later.

Have a great Saturday!

I'm 4 episodes in and I'm liking it. This is a funny true-crime satire using a high school prank as the crime and the crime investigation is treated like an serious crime investigation with high school journalists as the Woodward and Bernstein types. My only issue is that this one funny situation may be too much to spread out over an 8 episode show. The young actors are very good in this.

Psych. The one where they do the 1960s story woven into the modern one. Must have been fun to play. :D

ION aired a couple of my favorite Psych episodes this morning... Indiana Shawn and the Temple of the Kinda Crappy Rusty Old Dagger (one of the episodes with Pierre Despereaux) and Heeeeere's Lassie (Lassie thinks his new condo might be haunted - lots of homages to The Shining, Poltergeist, Rosemary's Baby, and probably others I didn't recognize).

Star Trek Discovery Trailer again

It looks great, but is this Star Trek or just a pompously, needless ....something ?!?
It will never reach the TNG or DS9 Spirit

i love trek, but i'm not on board with this at all. i'm so tired of prequels, which seem only to exist to screw with established timelines. of course, this is supposedly set in the timeline jj abrams established, so that's a double whammy of crap for me.

It just started streaming on Netflix! Was sooooo excited until I watched the first episode.

just wait, it gets better. i wasn't a fan of that whole stupid gimmick to begin with. if anything they should have done one and then surprised with the other in the opener. doing it the way they did guaranteed that by the time the season premiere actually rolled around, i didn't even give a damn who bought it. i'm not against a cliffhanger, but that wasn't a cliffhanger, it was a disservice.

I finished up American Vandal and I liked it. After the first couple of episodes I thought it was amusing but didn't think the story was going to have enough steam for 8 episodes. But the show kind of shifted gears about half way through and became a little more than a silly comedy. This is an excerpt from an article I read that I think is a spot on description of what happened in the later episodes.

What starts off as a hilariously silly investigation about who drew dicks in a high school parking lot slowly transforms into a genuinely compelling look at prejudice and the power of evidence.

Yay! I'm glad you liked it and thank you so much for the description. I liked it, too. I think I was on episode 5 when I forgot about the D and tried to figure who actually might have done it. Then it was how people/families are perceived and how it colors others judgement. It reminded me of Chris Chambers, brother of Eyeball Chambers in Stand By Me.

(Anything you can recommend on Netflix or Hulu+ ?)

Hey NBNP! So nice to see you!
I had to look this up.

After Lassiter moves into a new condominium building and strange things start happening to him, he is forced to hire Shawn and Gus to figure out what could be causing the supposed paranormal disturbance.

I have got to find this episode and watch it. Sounds like a hoot!
