Lest Darkness Fall A 20th century man Martin Padway suddenly finds himself in 6th century Rome. This is a fun fish out water book and seeing Padway trying to turn the situation to his advantage is both suspenseful and hilariously funny. :):D

The incredible Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, by Douglas Adams!!!

To this day, it is the only book I have ever read where, as soon as I reached the last page, I just turned back to the beginning and started again. :) Truly, truly wonderful. Overshadowed by the much more famous Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but Dirk Gently is the better book quite easily, in my opinion.

I've never met a time travel book I didn't love. favourites:

The Mirror by Marlys Millhiser. I read that book so many times. Lost it in our first move after we got married...along with several other books.

Time After Time by Karl Alexander

As well as The Time Machine by H.G. Wells which it is based on.

And of course Dr. Who.

In Times Like These by Nathan Van Coops

I read this recently and really liked it. And it's free on kindle :)

It's about five friends who are accidentally sent back through time from 2009 to 1986. Their efforts to return to 2009 have complications.

The novel has a couple sequels but it can be read alone. It has a satisfying ending - the sequels are further adventures.

Bid Time Return - Richard Matheson
The Doomsday Book - Connie Willis
Outlander - Diana Gabaldon
Up The Line - Robert Silverberg
There Will Be Time - Poul Anderson
Timeline - Michael Crichton
Robert Heinlein - The Door into Summer
Harry Harrison - The Technicolor Timemachine

Outlander - used to be my all time fave until 11/22/63 came along!

The old version of "The Time Machine" based on H.G. Wells book of the same name. I always liked that one. There's some movie with Christopher Reeve and Jayne Seymour made back in the early 80's that had kind of a cool time travel plot but I can't remember the name. "Somewhere in Time" maybe? It was a bit more of a love story but pretty tragic overall if I remember correctly. I remember the plot was cool though so that's what I tell myself if it's on and I end up watching it....

Morlock Night by K W Jeter This is a steampunk sequel to H G Well's The Time Machine . In this book the Morlocks have gotten hold of the time machine and turned all of history into their feeding ground. There is non stop action and suspense, this book has got it all !

i actually haven't read a huge amount of regular time travel stuff. timeline by crichton is good, as is 11/22/63 of course. and star trek actually usually does decent with time travel stuff. they did a really good book trilogy of DS9 that was based around time traveling.

i might have to work some more of these titles people are bringing up into my library.
