Behind you
Renewed my lease for 15 months. Guess I'm sticking with the job and maybe buy new furniture. Turned down two offers for thanksgiving invites. I don't know why.

I got a Harry Potter book that I ordered. Looks awesome. Film Wizardry.
I would have to peek, but it's shrink wrapped. It was for a present. Pollyanna.
I never read the books. :culpability:

After tomorrow, four days off.

Trying to think of someone to bring to my family Thanksgiving feast......
When we were still living at home, my brother would bring someone who didn't have anywhere to go to our house for Thanksgiving dinner. It became a tradition, and in honor of Mark I've continued the tradition for the last 18 years. This year, I haven't found anyone who doesn't have plans......

Ask someone at your church if they know of an individual who might be alone that day.

What a nice tradition! Your brother must have been a very kind and special person. I know you miss him terribly! Call your church anyway. They won't know you haven't been. Or if they do - they'll be happy to hear from you and know you are well. There's always some elderly person who's recently lost a spouse and their kids live far away and they don't have anywhere to go. My aunt in Ohio is like that right now.

Thanks!.....yep, my brother was more kind and generous than I tend to be. He was always dragging home a co worker or friend for supper. Once, a classmate came home with him and actually moved in with us for a while. He was allowed to call me Sis, and everything. I still keep in touch with him. My poor Mom just kinda rolled with whatever came her way. I'm not sure she got the kids she deserved, but we got the Mom who could handle us.....and for that, I'm always thankful.

I still say I could have fixed it......
Thanks, ‘Ms Margaret,’ but being of sound mind I decided to go in another direction. :)

Today, I think I peed in someone's cornflakes. I love that term. Seems so apt at times.

I had gotten a phone call from the person who had taken over a life insurance policy. She called expecting to be able to sell us additional insurance. However, I kind of took control from the beginning and was asking information about cashing it in. We do not really need this particular policy any more.

After I got my information, she then started talking about other insurance we may want to look into, like retirement insurance. I said we have health coverage through work, I'd need to check whether it still included an option for after retirement. She made a BIG mistake in trying to tell me no group policies are EVER offered for retired employees. BIG mistake because I worked in the insurance industry so I know they did. I also know some still do because I know people recently retired who DO have coverage.

Anyway, I'm going to start blasting Keith Urban again, and try to get some sewing done now.

Today: Day 1 of 7 of kiddo's Thanksgiving break. He was supposed to have early dismissal today and tomorrow, but after yesterday, I'm keeping him home.
(This will turn into a vent so if you'd rather not read anything negative, scroll past)
Yesterday, kiddo was in his usual morning mood (which is "everything pisses him off and always a few seconds away from a meltdown") but he kept saying he wanted to go to school, even though he doesn't do well with half days.
So he gets on the bus ok and while the aide is buckling him in, the driver tells me she will drop him off 10:30. So 3 hours from the time I'm putting him on the bus, meaning he would be in class less than 2 hours.
Then she closes the bus door and I hear the bus monitor yelling at my son because he smacked the window. I wouldn't mind her raising her voice if it stopped the behavior, but I have told this woman MANY times that the reason he is smacking the window to begin with is to get a rise out of her. He wants that reaction, so she's best to ignore him.
But she is an older woman who thinks she knows best, even though this is her first time interacting with kids with autism.
She complains constantly about kiddo's behaviors. She CHOSE to work at a job on a special needs bus, driving special needs students to a special needs school. Did she think they were going to sit quietly, hands folded in their laps????

Anyway, I decided the morning aggravation wasn't worth it for a couple hours of school and am keeping him home until school starts again next Tuesday. I'm sure I will regret it.

I also left a message for the teacher (who is great) telling her that I'm keeping kiddo home and that the bus aide was yelling again, so we'll see what happens there.

The other thing this bus monitor did was tell the kids if they act up she'll take them to the police station, which REALLY backfired in my son's case because he LOVES going to the police station (we are best friend's with the police chief and his family, so it makes kiddo's day to visit and get special treatment hahah...so he is being "bad" in the hopes of going to the police station...and now he asks her "can we go to the police station?" :D)
I crack up just thinking about it!
Your boy sounds like fun. Too bad there are folks he has to deal that aren't funny.

A number of years ago...

Supervisor Sgt: "I assigned you a theft case to follow up on."

Me: "The stack of follow-ups on my desk is already a foot high Sarge."

Supv. Sgt.:"Well now..... I've apparently come along and just pissed ALL OVER your Cheerios this morning but...lemme think about for a sec....No, I'm still ok with assigning it to you. Get it done."

Me: "Roger that sir, and you look cute when you get pissy."

Supv. Sgt. (grumbling while walking away): "I stopped listening to you ten seconds ago and that's a very conservative estimate."

Good times..lol

Hey what's up guys? Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and all is well. I wanted to share a story with everyone.

Last year the office downstairs (managed by my boss's sister) wanted to play Secret Santa. I told them that I thought SS was stupid and refused. I arrived next morning to find that the staff had stuck a poster of the Grinch over my desk. Well played, ha-ha. I informed them that my revenge would be slow but terrible.

Two weeks ago both offices started putting up Christmas decorations. I went downstairs to help the boss-lady with something on her computer and noticed they had a lovely Christmas tree with an elf stuck on the top. I did quite like the elf and the boss-lady, feeling quite proud of herself, gave it to me (probably cause I told her that our decorations kinda sucked compared to hers, but I digress).

Anyways, I take the elf upstairs and let my Pennywise Funko Pop do what comes naturally. I sent the photographs via email to the staff downstairs and told them I'm trying my best to negotiate release of the hostage.

Let's just say there was screaming. A LOT of screaming.

Don't mess with a Constant Reader. :evil_pig:
