I'm going with several coworkers to see Hidden Figures. I rarely go to the movies, so I am looking forward to it!

Holy crap - do we really need a passport just to get into Maine?

It's okay - I don't look like an "illegal alien" :alien:;;D

Do be prepared for the strip search at the border

I will need one. I am not sure where mal comes from so he might as well needs one for boarding a plane maybe?

Went to donate blood today and asked the attending nurse if I could take a selfie with my blood bag before the needle was removed. She said no. I did get some pineapple juice though.

Pineapple juice I wouldn't have guessed that one.

Today I have decided to take a break from the SKMB site for a while. No reason but it seems right. See you in September (if I can hold out that long). All the best to everyone, mal.

I hope you come back soon. I would love to meet you in person. I hope to attend.

I'm making bread in the Oster bread machine - just took the dough out and I am waiting for it to rise. Then after I punch it down I'll put it in a regular bread pan (loaf pan) [let it double in bulk] and bake it in the oven.

I like homemade bread but I prefer a regular shape, not the funny looking loaf that comes out of the bread machine =D:chuncky:

Soooooo maybe ya'll can give a younger man some advice. I just started this new job at a 24/7 gas station. It is one of my first jobs - not my first, but def an early one. My best friend got me the job. I worked one day. It really isn't my thing. I'm not a customer service person most of all when its put on top of all the other stuff we have to do. My work ethic is good though I was told. But the way people can be is a bit much.

I know part of life is dealing with people, but its a combination of things there.

So, thing is I've just gone to my local grocery and got an application. The manager even signed his name on it. It is far more my speed and would leave me with a lot less anxiety. The pay is the same for either. So yeah! Do I possibly disappoint a friend for a bit and quit after today and go with my heart or keep the anxiety I'm having and stick with this gas station?

I would send your friend a very nice thank you card . Yes, I know you're guys. But I'd still do it. Tell him you appreciate the faith he had in you and the time and attention he gave you to help you get this job.

And go with the other job.

Just be honest and tell your friend politely what you just told us - if he is a good friend he will get it - don't force yourself to work at something you dislike, hoping it will get better (especially if it doesn't pay more than the more appealing job).

Edit: if it is so bad that you want to quit after only one day then it sounds like you might end up really miserable if you stay there.

(DanaJean's idea is something to think about too) [depending on how "macho" you and your friend are :biggrin2::umm:

Like DJ stated. I'd use the thank you card as a follow up to an in person/ or call explaining you greatly appreciated his support and opening up the job for you. Explain that after working, it just wasn;t "you" and the grocery job is something you want to try. Just be up front. If he's a true friend, he'll be happy for you.
Sending out positive vibes for the grocery job.

THANK YOU ALL! :D

I'm just trying to save and start putting into my savings account, work on passing my GED (just math left now) and working on writing fiction of my own. The gas station thing isn't TERRIBlE I can do it. It is counting cigarettes, signing for food that comes in, cleaning the place etc. It is some of the tech stuff and customers that really get me. People can be awfully rude during night shift plus impatient in line. The gas machine is a piece of junk. I spent hours trying to learn it and all. It is ridiculous.

A combination of all the things plus my own stuff is a lot to take in.

The other job is just pushing carts and maybe I can work my way up there. Really hope I get it.

And I'm not against more complex work - it just becomes more anxiety fueled when ya gotta see to people in a line.
