I have never been to Maine
:waaaht::big_tears:

Hope to make it there in two years time, for sure (one way or another!) :big_smile:

Don't feel bad, I've never been, either, despite living most of my life in the rest of New England- Mr. King's books really make me want to go, though, because even if there are apparently lots of monsters and ghosts and stuff there, it's at least interesting compared to here. xD

As for what I'm doing today, hopefully some Dungeons and Dragons this evening.

not much of a picture Doc Creed and i didn't realize when i set up the game camera i'd be game but it worked out that way. there are two large hemlocks growing almost side by side, another that has long fallen (almost) and is the dead-fall you see leaning. there's a yellow birch foremost in the photo the left, there are maple and oak around the stand. the woods look much like this now, quite a few of the leaves have fallen although a day ago the bush was still thick with leaves. my avatar is another the game camera caught.

What a great picture; the perfect place to be alone with one's thoughts. I've never been hunting but it is something I really want to do. I'd love to have my own land in Montana and create a homestead. Incidentally, have you read Jim Harrison? I'm a fan of his books. He writes about Montana and Michigan. I think you'd really like his writing. The Brown Dog novellas are a personal favorite.

yes, i've read some harrison, more than a few titles. thanks for the reminder...should look for something else from him. how about tom mcquane? who lives, or did, somewhere...i believe montana. 90-something in the shade, one title that comes immediately to mind. he has this one line...paraphrased a bit...the blind corral was as as satisfying as the chop of a sharp axe in oak wood on a cold morning. has this other hilarious scene at a drive-in. when you read it, you'll know what i'm talking about, if you haven't already and do know. i think harrison recently passed, no? he has that one story about the puzzle? drops one piece of the puzzle into each state as he travels around. on the order of that one steinbeck story. but memory and me, we're friends but we don't often talk and when we do we talk at cross purposes. wonder what land prices are in montana. recently...talking with some people, another asked why they bought where they did, instead of in wisconsin. prices. locals believe the prices are high and they are, higher than they were. will have to check for some more harrison.

winter tree stand hunting is even better, deep in the tamarack and cedar swamp, so incredibly quiet, snow falling, trees blanketed in white, that half-hour after sunset when the trees go dark and the snow begins to sparkle and even the falling of a clump of snow is magnified and loud. you can hear your heart beat.

I bought three books from a bookstore: The Quickness of the Hand by James Mayo; Science Fiction Discoveries edited by Carol and Federick Pohl; Killer's Payoff by Ed McBain( don't know how a book from Bruce County Public Library, Wlarton, Ontario, ended up there.)

Wiarton you say?

That's where the famous Wiarton Willy the groundhog is!

Didn't have to work last night, had a nice dinner with Teddy and Doodles, celebrated our 3rd anniversary.... I know, can you believe it!!!! Just cuddling with Teddy now, reading all these words of wit, wisdom and silliness...
Happy Anniversary! It surely doesn't seem like three years have gone by already since you told us you were getting married. Hope you have many, many more years together and am so glad you found each other.
