My Mom used to say this poem - but her version was "to see a fine lady" not an old lady! =D

WTF is a "cockhorse?" I mean, what have I been missing?

Ride a cock-horse to Banbury Cross,
To see a fine lady upon a white horse;
Rings on her fingers and bells on her toes,
And she shall have music wherever she goes.

Not sure whether you are asking a serious question or not blunthead , but a "cock horse" means a high-spirited horse although it is also a pretend hobby horse.
There is still a Hobby Horse Festival in Banbury every July.

How about if there is this female TV chef-she's about 50 and looks like a librarian-she's got a syndicated regional show and everybody loves her. Every 3 months she has a 'live' show where the audience gets to taste what she cooked then and there. What they don't know is she uses 'special' ingredients. Know one seems to cotton on that little kids disappear in neighbouring states shortly before these 'live' shows. Mark.

I've often wondered how King would do with a Slasher story, you know the sort.. Or something like The Conjuring, you know, family moves into house, house is haunted, etc... He has definitely written plenty on the paranormal, but not so much on what we are used to seeing in, say, movies, perhaps. Something like The Haunting Of Hill House, maybe. Just a nice old school paranormal story. No teenage girls with powers, no little boys with the "shine"... Nothing too "out there", as far as powers and such go.

As a fan of true crime, as morbid as it sounds, I've always been fascinated with the idea of spirits staying at the place where they so tragically, and often brutally, died. Paranormal Fallout, it is often called. Also, the whole "energy" idea that is often discussed, and was even mentioned in Salems' Lot. How events can leave an imprint on the locations where they occurred, which is often associated with the negative energy that is left behind, instead of actual spirits. Residual hauntings, where the events can "replay" themselves over and over in time on another dimension of reality that we can not yet comprehend. Very eerie stuff.

The entire idea of another dimension, plane or realm of existence existing around us everyday, which is part of what we see as paranormal events, has always fascinated me too. Sometimes we see some of that other dimension, which some believe to be the root of everything paranormal we see and talk about.

A brief example.. I'm sure we have all heard the famous celebrity stories.. Marilyn Monroe, Lugosi, the list goes on and on, and does not end with celebrities.. Gettysburg is another prime example... The idea of catching a glimpse of those people from Ages Past, still dressed in the wear from that Era in Time. Often in the same general locations where they passed away, or locations that held a personal bond with them. Even the Medium who claims to have seen Sharon Tate in that guys house 150 feet from where she was killed... Fascinating, eerie stuff.

Imagine King writing about that. The ballroom scene from The Shining is a good example. Think about it for a minute.. All these people and places, from an Era long ago.. Existing in another Dimension somehow, one that we sometimes catch a glimpse of.

Cookies? COOKIES???? I want chocolate or cheesecake or chocolate cheesecake!!!! That, my friends, is what will sooth your troubled soul, yessir! (d*mnit!)
"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want.
If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money.
But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.
If you let my CHOCOLATE CHEESECAKE go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you.
But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."
