I drove down to Texas last weekend. Listed to The Wall, beginning to end. It had been a long time since I'd done that. I'd forgotten how brilliant it is.

Jessica by Allman Brothers is a wonderful, joyous song.

I was surprised by the dearth of NPR stations in Texas. Did Perry run them out of the state?

The "What's your theme song for today" thread will also give you an idea of our musical tastes. As for me, in terms of genre's, I can probably say that I can find a handful of songs in most genre's that I like, even if I don't like that genre in general - my phone and ipod have songs from each decade, from the 1930's, spanning country, blues, jazz, heavy metal, classic rock, hip hop, reggae and euphoric trance, among others. I also have some classical music from the early 1800's too.

My favourite band is Pink Floyd, and my favourite gre is classic rock.

Hi there, Riot... just letting you know that I've merged your thread with the What's Your Theme Song Today thread. :)
My favourites change often... I will sometimes 'binge' on an ablum for weeks--drives my family crazy. :biggrin2: Current binge is David Bowie's early stuff.

Brilliant, love it. It makes me think of top gear, which makes me love it even more.

However, it's not quite as good as rambling man, imo.
Did you watched Top Gear last week Nameless.... the 1st part of the 2 part special? Tomorrows looks even better :)

And agree with Rambling man btw.

I love rock. AC/DC, my favourite band. But listen to most things. Stay away from chart stuff though. And "Brit Pop".

Yes I did, 2 things had me in tears, James waking up to find his tent suspended high in the air, and Clarkson calling his horse Tesco. I love top gear, gutted it's only 6/7 episodes per season.

I also hate chart stuff. As for brit pop, I will hear no bad words about the what's the story morning glory? Album. The rest was pretty crap now I'm older - except a couple of muse songs, sadly when muse won the brit pop race, it was at the expense of a really good band called my vitriol, who disappeared into obscurity.

I absolutely love it too, my favourite thing on tv. Watching Clarkson turn to the camera after dismounting from "Tesco" and saying dead pan to camera "I have seriously damaged my teste" had me rolling around. I looked into buying all the specials on dvd but the reviews were pretty poor, as because of copy right issues they have to cut bits out and the soundtracks are removed. In fact, when I was leaving for work this morning, the American Special was on Dave. Heaven for me is when they put all the specials back to back.

Regarding Oasis, I will respectfully refrain from comment. I've almost fallen out with friends over my complete lack of interest in their music. Rock all the way for me. :)

I will hear no bad words about the what's the story morning glory?

When I finally broke down and bought my first CD player (must have been 1996, I think) What's the Story Morning Glory was the first cd I bought. Love it, can still sing every word of it. But you're right about the rest.

I love music, I can't pick just one type. I don't like country music much - unless it's classic country like Patsy Cline or Johnny Cash. I like music that makes me feel good: Dave Matthews Band, Prince, Sting. But I like 70s pop and I like Disco and I love the 80s, esp Brit music from the 80s. And one of my favorite songs ever is Midnight Rider by the Allman Brothers, so I like a little southern rock as well. And then there's Stevie Wonder, Van Morrison, Big Head Todd & the Monsters. I think it depends on my mood.

As I have stated many times, Soundgarden, and Tool are my 2 top favorites. Right now, I am in a Rolling Stones mode. I listen to one of their albums every day on youtube.
I like Pink Floyd, Korn, Disturbed, Pearl Jam, and lots of others.
I am a total rock girl. (65, and still head banging!)

Me too. I really enjoy it all. I like soulfulness and grew up on Country and R&B. I even love classical. But, I've found it best to not talk about music on the SKMB.

Soul and blues music is my real passion, but I like a bit of just about everything. I'm a music head and always have been. That's one huge thing I credit SKMB for--giving that back to me after a decade long 'mommy coma'. When I started here, John D. was so passionate about music--ALL music, not just the music from when he was young--that he woke me up to life outside the four walls again. Started listening to music again--new music--and that lead to writing again (something I'd given up after college).

SKMB gave me myself back :D

Fair enough, I'm not their biggest fan myself, never really got the hype around definately maybe, I loved Morning Glory, but they went downhill from then on fast.

I'm not a big fan of most of these, but for some reason black hole sun by Soundgarden has been stuck in my head for days.

In terms of rock bands in particular that I like (accross all sub genres): Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, The Who, Guns N Roses, I guess what I'm saing is they don't make them like they used to. With the exception of the foo fighters, there has been very little modern rock music I like. There was an extrmeme power fantasy metal band that exploded onto the scene with melodic metal ballads that actually had singing rather than screaching, called dragonforce, but they went crap.
Not everyones cup of tea, I know.

When I was in my late teens and early 20s I used to like bands like Slipknot, Linkin Park, Cradle of Filth, H.I.M, but the I grew up :) I still listen to the odd song by the likes of them sometimes.

Well. I'm a dinosaur and still play CDs in the car. In looking through my CD case, there's an array of:

bluesy rock (Vaughn and Trower)
southern rock (Allmans)
progressive rock (Pink Floyd, ELP, Moody Blues)
metal rock (Iron Butterfly)(yes, Iron Butterfly)
bluegrass (traveling band I bought the CD from, forget the name)
folk (Searson, another traveling band, great to listen to)
swing sound (Stray Cats, Big Bad Voodoo Daddies)
classic rock (Santana, U2)
classical (Mozart)

But there's more prog rock than anything else in there, and in prog rock, there's more Pink Floyd than the others.
