"Have I run too far to get home?"

I've been to and walked around the Little Big Horn battlefield. Very interesting, and not at all like I read about, growing up. I think it's contributed to my fear of the US Army being in places where it shouldn't.
I'd love to take that tour Grandpa. I can imagine how interesting that tour would be. Is it a guided tour type thing?

Ghosters, there may be a guided tour, but Grandma and I just walked around the place on our own, following the paved walks.

Growing up, I had this impression of the company clustered in formation in the face of the surrounding Indians riding around and the troops getting picked off where they stood, but giving more than they got in terms of numbers.

That wasn't the case. The natives were well-organized, well-armed, and very capable. They cut through the divided US forces, scattering them yet more, then chasing them down and wiping them out as they ran. Part of the group did make a stand with Custer, but it was a freewheeling melee on the side of a hill and probably over in minutes.

It's a very unusual, possibly unique, graveyard in that the men were buried where they were found, so the gravestones are scattered throughout the battlefield. The paved walk winds around and past those stones. There's a lot of the battle explanation in the visitors center. You'd enjoy it, I'm sure.

I was out that way on vacation back in 2003. We had driven up through South Dakota then westward across Wyoming but I couldn't fit a trip north into Montana into our schedule, much to my disappointment. Maybe someday. Thanks for the info sir.

Someone help me, I can't find this quote, if it is one, but something about what is most likely is most to be feared. Really my biggest (likely) problems are being old, broke, and alone.

1. Have very few risk factors (smoking, drinking, wild driving, stressful job, having kids which takes years off your life, living in a large urban area), and longevity runs in the family.

2. Never had a successful career. Heard that most people don't have $1,000.00 to their name, and when the economy tanks, as is likely, only the survivalists will do very well of which I'm not one.

3. Don't have that many friends anyway and may well outlive many I do know. Haha, I knew this 100-year-old lady who said her friends must think she didn't make it to Heaven as most of them were already there!

Anyhow, check on all risk factors for ending up as I fear I am likely to end up!
