Hi :)

So I have this "problem" that I have a quite a lot of free time, but I hate to waste it.
Somehow I'm afraid that if I read a book from an author I don't know I might be disappointed at the end so I don't even start.
That's why I think I need to ask you guys because you are probably more experienced than me :)

Do you know any more authors who I can trust by sacrificing my free time to read their books?

Grrm and Tolkien are the only ones (and SK of course) I trust. I was very disappointed with the Dan Brown books at the end :(

I don't know, it might be a stupid question. But forgive me if it is. I'm still in bed and half asleep haha. I need my coffee asap.

I just finished Last Seen Leaving by Kelly Braffet (thank you morgan !). It was a great book - total page-turner. I finished it in two days - and that's speedy for me. I just couldn't part from the characters. (Kelly Braffet is Owen King's wife).

and I'll fourth the Joe Hill suggestion. I finished 20th Century Ghosts last week (thank you skimom2 !) and it was fabulous, as is Heart Shaped Box.

SKMB friends are the best!

Hi adamjahar, Some of the best authors I've read were recommended by others. Other of my best authors were found by myself. Take advice and suggestions from others but don't be afraid to follow your interests and take chances on books that may be crap or golden. You'll never know until you jump in. Time marches on regardless. A list of a few favourite authors of mine (besides Mr. King) are: Grahame Greene, Italo Calvino, Charles Dickens, Charles Bukowski, Fyodor Dostoyesky. For fun reads, the Harry Potter series (J.K. Rowlings), the Jason Bourne series (Robert Ludlum), the Archy MacNally series (Lawrence Sanders). Most of this stuff is older. The contemporary ones eventually find their way to me but there is too much older stuff to catch up on. Happy reading, mal.
