Our kids didn't ask for anything very specific this year, so we kind of were shopping blind. But it seems we did good, they were all happy.

Our 11 year old especially was difficult this season. The one thing he asked for, for months, was a camo Under Armour sweatshirt. They are pretty pricey so we saved that for the Santa gift (Santa brings clothes now?!? ;)) He was pretty sure he wasn't getting one, because Santa doesn't bring clothes and we always do family gifts on Christmas Eve...so his exclamation of "Oh COOL!" was pretty great to hear. :) And the two little ones didn't think it odd at all that he got a sweatshirt from Santa. ;)

Nadine - how is the house training going? I want to get a pug puppy but I am unfamiliar with how to train a dog properly. By the way, Maggie looks adorable!

She is a cutie, Thanks. It's going pretty well, she is only 8 weeks old and already sits at the front door and cries to go out. She is having her accidents in the middle of the night though. I had all intentions of crate training her but she is pretty good. I will probably regret that when I go back to work. :0 I have to train her to stop teething on my hands (ouch) and dragging around on my pant leg when I walk. I must have a stuffed animal at the ready for my protection from her attack play pouncing. :culpability:

I got my favorite gift today. My Tall Guy bought tickets to go see Helen Reddy sing. I grew up listening to her, and just found out yesterday that she's come out of retirement. I was quite sad to find out, because I knew I couldn't go. It's all the way over in Houston, or Florida, that's the closest she's coming to Baton Rouge. But he wandered into the room and said casually, "We're going to Houston." I told him don't even joke like that. It's cruel. But he said he's serious. I'm so happy!

My favorite gift was a rusty nail twisted into a pretty shape and hung on a necklace. It wasn't just any old nail, though. My daughter and her boyfriend (through a lot of phone calls from the west coast) managed to get a nail from the house back in western Pennsylvania where my parents lived as newlyweds and where I spent the first few years of my life. It was such a simple present but about the most meaningful gift I've ever received.

Love that. I am so sentimental, that is perfect.

I got all the books I asked for and credit for my Kindle and that is great. But, my husband did something so thoughtful. When we were out shopping I saw a little mini genie bottle with all kinds of sparkly bits and really pretty colours. I admired it and we moved on and I thought no more about it. Didn't he go back out and get it for me? So, that is my favorite present.

First, that everyone was happy with their presents, and no one felt the need to pick a fight (lol). My favorite thing is a copper and brass twisted bracelet--I put it on the second I got it and haven't taken it off since. I love copper more than any other metal :)
