Cujo was my first, followed by 'Salem's Lot. I got both at a junior high book fair.

The first one I bought at a book store was Christine, shortly after. I had to ask for an advance on my allowance for the $3 paperback, and my mom tried to talk me out of it. She never understood my fascination with anything horror.

The first one that I had to wait (not so patiently) for the paperback on was Skeleton Crew.

When I was 12 my Dad told me to stop reading Goosebumps and took me to the second floor of the library (adult section) and said I should find a real book. I found Misery and it was amazing. Later on that year, Dreamcatcher was filmed in my city. I bought the book, then watched the movie when it was released. Been hooked ever since.

When I was 15 one of my friends (who knew I was addicted to reading) stole The Tommyknockers from his mom's bookshelf and gave it to me to read. It was honestly the first time that I read a book where I was so genuinely scared that I could not sleep for a few days. I just loved Stephen King's writing style and after I finished the book I was determined to find more.

I recently read that Stephen King feels that The Tommyknockers is his worst book, but if his worst book had me hooked it is no wonder that I am completely addicted to everything he writes.

I really don't remeber, but it's been 20+ years, and for many of them I've got the new books on the release date, I've done both editions of The Stand, as well, FYI.

Pet Sematary, Was given to my by my Uncles Girlfriend at the time, I had to be like 10 maybe. Been reading ever since. Until I was handed that book I was reading anything I could get at my schools book fairs, I remember getting Scary stories to tell in the dark and More Scary stories to tell in the dark at the book fair and reading them over and over. I loved the stories in those and the pictures were great.

Ohh and I still have that paperback copy of Pet Sematary that she gave me and I cherish it to this day. I have Signed copies of SK books and limited editions, but that one well worn paperback is one of the most special in my collection. Always will be.

If you are interested. a friend of mine made a webseries out of the Scary Stories collection-
(A Man who lived in Leeds is below) I hope you enjoy. I believe he started with the first story. I just went into my email and grabbed the first I could find! Let me know what you think!

Cool, Thanks for sharing and welcome to the board. Looks like your friend put some effort into making that video, I will have to check out his other stuff.
