Here's a "What Would You Do?"

You're going to an amusement park. Kids 11 and under can ride half price. Your child is 12 but is so small he can pass for 8. Do you pay full price or lie for the discount?

My parents lied about me to get the discount. I always looked young for my age, until life's luggage took its toll.

My kids, on the other hand, never experienced us lying to get them in cheap. We just didn't want to introduce them to moral fluidity that early in their life. As adults, they don't lie about their kids' ages, either.

There was a show that I caught a snippet of while out and about the other day, and its very similar to this thread.

The question I saw was, what would you do if you saw a pregnant woman slamming back shots?

I'd pray for her baby.
She already knows she shouldn't be drinking while she's pregnant, but obviously doesn't care. People with that mentality do not generally respond nicely to well-meaning advice.

Twelve year old that looked eight?..an amusement park?
K'
Ya know I'd most likely ask the person selling admittance to guess their age, and just go with that:encouragement:...hey once a carny, always a carny:cool:

Your reply reminds me of "Joyland". We did go to the amusement park yesterday,(didn't lie about his age).
My daughter used to like the haunted house, but she won't go in it anymore since reading "Joyland". When I have to go in with her brother, I can't stop thinking about the story either, so can't blame her.

Yep, coulda used some of that!

Child's age - I had it done to me, haven't done it with my daughter.

Pregnant woman - I have seen one drinking and smoking. I did as 80s Fan suggested and said a little prayer for her baby. I was certain that any advice I gave would not be well received.

At about 8 my son was the size of a 4 year old. Kids that age got in cheaper because there were very few rides they were big enough to ride on. So yes, we went with the cheaper price.
