Ah, yes, my beloved Mary did indeed pen her masterpiece at the tender age of eighteen. Not sure I'd label Frankenstein as sci-fi, though many, many do. Her mother, Mary Wolstonecraft, was a hard core feminist--and ruffled a lot of feathers. I believe it was Sir Walter Scott who called her 'a hyena in petticoats'.

However, you are mistaken about the computer programmer part--though you were close. That was Byron's daughter, Ada Lovelace, who later went quite mad trying to develope a foolproof gambling system.
