Hey!

I don't do Facebook, it's not my thing.

When we haven't heard from some SKMB members, we tend to worry about them. We worry and wonder and ask, "Where is so-and-so?" .

Many times we hear, so-and-so is on Facebook. S/he is doing well! Or, s/he is not doing well!

I'm wondering. Why are so many SKMB members on Facebook and not here?

Thank you!

I will say one thing in defense of Facebook. People can form a group, if they prefer, which allows only like-minded people to join. So, basically, people can have a pleasant experience much like the one experienced here. I'm not sure any site or forum is going to be completely free from negativity. However, I choose to spend most of my time here, as well. The irony of Facebook is in its effort to connect people and create community its users often feel lonelier and more disconnected than ever. That's my opinion.

I didn't used to like Facebook either, but when the board went down for those 3 weeks, I checked it out. It gets boring around here during the day.
It is not that bad. I don't give out any info about myself there. some people tell their life story.
I mostly look at horse pages, and native American pages, and Chris Cornell pages. I also have some pages that have funny stuff on it.
The SKMB there doesn't have many people there, and it is not very active, but I check it every day.

I am probably one of the people Sigmund is referring to. That happens with me a lot.

For me, it's not a choice between what's better or more fun. My IRL people are on FB, so when I drop into a Jen Hole and can't manage socialization across several platforms, FB is the last to go. Why?

Because dropping out of FB has real-life consequences, like people with each other's phone numbers discussing what a mess I am and how I probably need professional help (which I have) and how I shouldn't have had that last kid (should any of have had *any* of our kids, really?) and how my poor husband has to put up with so much and deserves better (that part is true.) Then they use my husband's phone number, and mine to "straighten things out."

The calls and messages start, sticky sweet at first. Then pointed, and then *angry* because I didn't respond properly to the original platitudes.

People here have my contact info, but no one has ever been a jerk to me. I've been checked in on, and had my heart warmed. And, I had one disastrous incident where I dropped the ball on someone and still don't think I've apologized enough (I'm so sorry, I still think about what a mess I made of things.)

So, when things go sideways, unless the whole program has become a burning skeleton on the sh¡theap, I fake it on Facebook. And, FB Jen is the real Jen. FB Jen is funny like me, cares about the same issues I do, loves her family like I do, and makes fun of current events like I do, but you never see her sweat (what commercial is that?)

That's what's going on with me when I'm there and not here. I didn't choose them over you. You're just not @$$holes to me when I'm not around. You could be if you wanted, I suppose. PM me for my deets.

Smooch!

Facebook stopped being cool when everyone's parents joined......

FB stopped beeing Cool after everyone had an Idea about their Business Practices.
FB is to Curious, hot for Data.
And Copyrights ?
I dont know the US Facebook Rules.
In Germany it is like That :
If u take a Picture of me, you have to ask me, if you are allowed to Save it...or before
you tkae this Pic, you have to Ask me , if i Agree.

If u Agree, you give up the Copyright...to FB

In FB`s Standard Business Terms, you give up your Copyright, by Accepting their SBT.
They could use your Uploaded Image...for Everything
No one Reads Standard Business Terms, everybody clicks "Accept"

I dont give a F*** about FB

People on FB know nothing about me. No phone number, no nothing. You don't have to give that info out unless you want to, and I chose not to.
I just visit my pages, and comment now, and then. Same as I do here. I gotta tell you though. On the native American sites, I have learned a lot about the cultures, and how to use herbs, and fruits for different things.
Did you know you can spay lemon juice on window sills, and door ways, and you won't have ants. Works, because I have done it, and we always have ant problems every summer.
But to each their own of being on FB.
