FB stopped beeing Cool after everyone had an Idea about their Business Practices.
FB is to Curious, hot for Data.
And Copyrights ?
I dont know the US Facebook Rules.
In Germany it is like That :
If u take a Picture of me, you have to ask me, if you are allowed to Save it...or before
you tkae this Pic, you have to Ask me , if i Agree.

If u Agree, you give up the Copyright...to FB

In FB`s Standard Business Terms, you give up your Copyright, by Accepting their SBT.
They could use your Uploaded Image...for Everything
No one Reads Standard Business Terms, everybody clicks "Accept"

I dont give a F*** about FB

Yeah, the privacy concerns are a whole other issue. Same with Amazon and their predictive analytics. Jeff Beezos can take all that data and shove it up his digital posterior.

I am probably one of the people Sigmund is referring to. That happens with me a lot.

For me, it's not a choice between what's better or more fun. My IRL people are on FB, so when I drop into a Jen Hole and can't manage socialization across several platforms, FB is the last to go. Why?

Because dropping out of FB has real-life consequences, like people with each other's phone numbers discussing what a mess I am and how I probably need professional help (which I have) and how I shouldn't have had that last kid (should any of have had *any* of our kids, really?) and how my poor husband has to put up with so much and deserves better (that part is true.) Then they use my husband's phone number, and mine to "straighten things out."

The calls and messages start, sticky sweet at first. Then pointed, and then *angry* because I didn't respond properly to the original platitudes.

People here have my contact info, but no one has ever been a jerk to me. I've been checked in on, and had my heart warmed. And, I had one disastrous incident where I dropped the ball on someone and still don't think I've apologized enough (I'm so sorry, I still think about what a mess I made of things.)

So, when things go sideways, unless the whole program has become a burning skeleton on the sh¡theap, I fake it on Facebook. And, FB Jen is the real Jen. FB Jen is funny like me, cares about the same issues I do, loves her family like I do, and makes fun of current events like I do, but you never see her sweat (what commercial is that?)

That's what's going on with me when I'm there and not here. I didn't choose them over you. You're just not @$$holes to me when I'm not around. You could be if you wanted, I suppose. PM me for my deets.

Smooch!

I love my friend Jen. My friend Jen loves me. We have been with each other for far too long, through wayyyy too much to not be real and understanding. And that's always a good thing. :love_heart:

I don't do Facebook because I'm old, techno-stupid, I hate change (Get off my lawn!) and I'm suspicious of new things (Dahm hippies). ;;D

Sooner or later, work or family will require me to do it and I will but not without a lot of muttered oaths and curses. =D

Just be warned! When I do, I will bug the living crap out of all of you! Mwahahaha.

My oldest son set up facebook for me when he was leaving for college ( 2005). He told me it was a way to keep up with him. So I would get on every day and look at his page/pictures... that was it for probably the first two years. I just looked and it took me two years to put up my first profile picture in 2007! But some time around the two year mark, he showed me how to make groups and how to find people and how people were sending me friend requests ..old school friends, family, ets. I love facebook now. I own one of the largest Dallas Cowboy fan groups on there... and I have another well established pet/farm & ranch group for the east texas area as well as a family group. I am a member of a few other groups... one of which Lep made for our KaTet when this page is down. I love it here.. and I love it there .. I have obligations there but I love to check in here <3 I avoid the drama of facebook.. however, there is drama everywhere...and cliques in other places. So a lot of people just come and go.. some people stay here and others like to just come by and check on how everyone is doing.

Lol, I like both.

Me to.

I joined FB for games. Seriously. They had some old-school Nintendo games and my adult son knew I would like them. To get them, I needed to be a "friend" to someone with them so he sent me a friend request. Then someone on his list saw me and sent me a friend request. Then people I knew IRL many years ago found me.

I have reconnected with my old neighbourhood gang. So we all shared pictured. The denim gang rides again.

I also have some friends from here too. At least one who has posted in this thread. :D

I will say one thing in defense of Facebook. People can form a group, if they prefer, which allows only like-minded people to join. So, basically, people can have a pleasant experience much like the one experienced here. I'm not sure any site or forum is going to be completely free from negativity. However, I choose to spend most of my time here, as well. The irony of Facebook is in its effort to connect people and create community its users often feel lonelier and more disconnected than ever. That's my opinion.

What Doc here said, plus:

Facebook is nice if you want to read SK's posts. However, don't expect to try starting any serious discussion about his work without it being eventually derailed by trolls or d*uchebags. SKMB...is not that place. =D

People on FB know nothing about me. No phone number, no nothing. You don't have to give that info out unless you want to, and I chose not to.
I just visit my pages, and comment now, and then. Same as I do here. I gotta tell you though. On the native American sites, I have learned a lot about the cultures, and how to use herbs, and fruits for different things.
Did you know you can spay lemon juice on window sills, and door ways, and you won't have ants. Works, because I have done it, and we always have ant problems every summer.
But to each their own of being on FB.
I'm going to try this. We have a horrible ant problem every damn year!

What I did, DJ, was get an empty spray bottle, and a bottle of lemon juice. I put the juice in the bottle, and sprayed the window sills, and door ways.
We had started to get ants, and after I sprayed the juice, we haven't seen one since. If they come back, I will spray again.
I was very pleasantly surprised.
I have found so many little tips about different stuff.

Avid Facebook user here, dunno, Facebook is my only connection to my family and friends (aside to school) and also to some school works (some professors use Facebook to upload the project if it doesn't fit in class time)

But i mostly use facebook for (1.) Messenger, talking much to my buddy so i don't feel a bit alone, (2.) for Memes (yeah guys, i'm the one of what so you called a "meme-r", i really love memes) and (3.) Game or Video Game updates, altho i have a mail ad i registered to gaming companies' newsletter, i'm rarely much opening my e-mail unless needed

  • Something strange just happened over at Facebook, it might be nothing, but, 3 members from here who rarely ever are active there, all showed up together in the 'currently online' column. One being Patindahat, one being one of our Eternal members, and the other our lovely Miss Moderator . Oddly there was no 'light' on by them or 'login time'.

  • I just had this worry that someone may have or be trying to hack into them only because they all showed up together there and are not usually active, and then they all disappeared. :Oo: I know you guys may have logged in and someones family member may also have but I wanted to let everyone know just in case .

The Constant Reader group on Facebook can be a bit much at times. It's HUGE and basically rotates newbs asking the same stupid questions every damn day with some fun stuff thrown in by actual constant readers here and there. The strict line about "nothing political" sucks too because that means you can't share actual interviews with Stephen King or discuss like 99% of his Twitter posts. Still, it has its moments. I know I'm the newb here but so far, this is much more my speed. :)
