A pair of black baseball socks I picked up this morning. My daughter's first softball game is today and she needed black socks for the uniform. Then on the ride home I get a text from the head coach that he changed his mind and now wants them to have orange socks. So I turn around and go back to the sporting goods store that carries our team colors. They are out of orange socks and the shipment won't be in until Monday. Phone starts filling up with text's from parents saying they can't find orange socks. So today will be a mix of black and orange socks. I've been pressured into coaching after I've sworn I was finished coaching... apparently I have no willpower. I haven't even checked out my coaches shirt to see if the size is correct. And I have to leave the game early for my 40th class reunion, and can't find my yearbook. I won't have a clue who most anyone is as I haven't seen them in 40 years, and remember very little from back then (damn hippie years). Today is not shaping up too good so far.

I think this is the third time I've posted this today, so I'll spoiler it in case anyone is sick of hearing about it. I got a
new bra - came in the mail yesterday. I won't go cheap on a bra - I need lots of armor, if you know what I mean, so I only get about 2 a year and they have to last. The girls are standing loud and proud today.
:jammin:Woo Hoo! (new bra) - I bought two of them (those nice comfy ones that I can wear at work and then keep on when I go to the gym after work).

Maybe the could have a special "Black and Orange" Hallowe'en Game? (if it is not too cold by then).

I was thinking of buying some kids movies for my daughter since we only have a few like that. Could you guys tell me some good kid movies?
I would recommend one called "Up" - it is really cute and funny (even for adults).

and Ratatouille (my husband liked that one!)
Up and Ratatouille are both Disney Pixar movies

I finally got my truck decals for that good used truck I picked up a month ago...I'm a superhero again. Heads turn, oh, there goes so-and so. Considered putting her in the Fourth of July parade through town next year, but naw...maybe we'll go to a casino and I'll win another jackpot...won three this year so far...helps pay for the truck, insurance, ladder rack, so on so forth and scoobie doobie do.

new business cards, too. I show up 8 a.m. over there at Designo-Type like she said, Nancy maybe...pull into the lot, park, step through the door. I'm a stranger. Me with two customers wanting to take off mid-September, time and all. So...they sent Andrew by the job in Houghton and he put the decals on there. Got paid from one job yesterday, all in cash...call the tax man...or nevermind, the NSA will take care of that. Did some work on another...and I ought to head out today, too, Big Traverse, bring some wheelbarrows, re-mesh, shovels, form boards...small shed a man wants built, who wants to leave God's Country in a week or so. Move some stampsand from the beach...all the tailings from the Gay Sands have migrated to Big Traverse and a once nice white sandy beach 30-yards from the line of camps is now a beach a hundred yards deep...stampsands...some outfit wants to harvest the sand, make roofing out of it but I don't imagine that will happen this being the U.S. and all. The horror.

Sometimes. Walt, I really don't understand what you are talking about with your job. Like re-mesh shovels, and form boards, and stampsand. Sounds interesting though. My dad was a carpenter, and when he retired so many people wanted him to do projects for them. So he never really retired I guess. The man could build anything without having any kind of blueprints. He'd have the idea in his head, and just build it.

Re-mesh is a wire grid you place on the prepared ground where you pour concrete...the purpose of the mesh is to strengthen the concrete. It is a mesh that has a 6"x6" pattern, comes in either a roll or flat "sheets"...form boards are...mine are hemlock 1 x 12s, old worn and ragged...for a "floating slab"...heh! It starts to get more and more complicated, hey? I'd love to know who coined the term "floating" slab...meaning concrete...usually 4" thick with a thickened edge. Floating, as opposed to "frost footings"...usually 42" deep into the ground, so the frost doesn't heave the foundation although if you got clay in the ground all bets are off. It's nice you dad was able to retire...Dad's retirement was a hospital bed...he worked until he couldn't work and then he lay there and watched sports, Tigers, Wings. My guess is that that is also where I am headed...although I could always light out for the territory.

Thanks, Walt for 'explaining'. Now I'm even ,pre confused!
I would love to have the skills to be able build anything without a blueprint... what an art.
want to know the odd thing about my dad? Back when he was young he had to quit school in the 5th grade to help his family. He had no real education,he learned the trade of carpentry, and knew how to build things without blueprints. I remember a project he did for one of our neighbors. It was a sunroom with windows all the way around it, for the woman who lived there to put her flowers/plants in. It was almost like a hot house for flowers. I remember going to that woman's house in the winter, and if the sun was shining, it was so warm, and cozy in that room. The last house I lived in with my parents was quite a mess when they bought it. My dad took room by room, and re did the whole house. There was no bathroom, and he turned what was once a pantry into the bathroom. When it was all done, it was the best house! He built a china cupboard right into the wall in the dining room. It was so beautiful!

That sounds amazing! What a gift.
