In my single, not-so-happy days, there were two movies I always watched to relax after a tough day at work. (or just a tough day in general. there were a lot of those back then.)

One was "Hansel and Gretel, Witch Hunters". I'd grab Chinese, a fresh pack of smokes, and some honey whiskey, then go home, pack a pipe, and settle in. By the end of the movie, I was in a great mood. Worked every time.

Then I discovered Rock of Ages....That movie ALWAYS puts a big, dopey grin on my face, no matter how bad of a day I've had. It also happens to be my best friend's favorite movie, so when we get together to watch it, we'll sing along to everything even though we're both tone deaf.

And then there's the ultimate, best feel-good film out there, at least for me. Rise of the Guardians. I have always believed in magic, in hope, in good winning out over evil. And that movie, to me, was so perfectly done that I wish I could just step inside and live in it. North tells about how he sees the world with eyes open wide with wonder, and that, right there, touched me deeply. I have always looked at this world with wonder, with a sense of what-if, and was always shamed for it. That silly, gorgeous, amazing kids movie made me realize I could be free to believe....in anything.
