I just thought of a tale to share:

My mother, while in the process of adopting me, was trying to come up with a name.

Before I was eight days old, I had already gone under two different names. My birth mother named me Shawna, and the lady who cared for me while the paperwork was dealt with called me Savannah.

My Daddy and my brother wanted to name me Heather.

But one night, both my mother and grandmother had a dream. In it, they dreamt of my name being crystal. Mom went with the name, but as you can see she decided to go all artistic and "spell it right". (her words, not mine.)

As much as I have come to love my weird name over the years, I'm still amazed by how people react to it. I can spell it out, letter by letter, so slowly a five year old could copy it down, and they still insist on putting an "a" in there. Or they think it's "Krysti" for some reason. I even have a signed photo of Dom Deluise with this mistake written across it! I've learned to laugh about it over the years, but I still wonder what the obsession with vowels is about. Isn't "y" good enough? It's like the most awesome letter out there; it goes both ways!

I like your name if it's Krystl. Is it?
