Some facts about the Arkansas flag:

A diamond on a red field represents the only place in North America where diamonds have been discovered and mined. The twenty-five white stars around the diamond mean that Arkansas was the twenty-fifth state to join the Union. The top of four stars in the center represents that Arkansas was a member of the Confederate States during the Civil War. The other three stars represent Spain, France and the United States, countries that had earlier ruled the land that includes Arkansas.
I am sorry - isn't Canada part of North America? Specifically the North West Territories and Nunavut?

I think when your flag was created they had not started diamond mining up there yet.

the blue and gold colors of the DE flag come directly from the flag of Sweden.
DE was called "new Sweden" before there was a USA. Then Sweden sold Delaware to the brits.
or to Mr. Penn himself, I cant remember.

the ship in the flag is the ":Kalmar Nickle"/// google if you like
Nickle as you wrote is, to be pedantic, wrong. The word spells Nyckel but the pronunciation is close. Means Key in English. The kind you open doors with. Personally i think it is a rather nice flag but of course i, since i'm swedish, is not without bias in the question.
