Idaho
Idaho ranked number 1 for rudest drivers. I have friends in Idaho. They tell me this is why Idaho got this ranking.

1. Half of Idaho is illegal Californians. (jk. they are just a-hole Californians. The nice ones stay in California or move somewhere else. A-holes move to Idaho.)
2. Only a handful of people in Idaho know how to MERGE!!!!! Learn to merge or get out!
3. Farmers and old people slowing down to look at what used to be farmland and is now an Adam and Eve store.

I suspect that is a lot of it. A lot of people have been moving here or visiting here from California in the last several years, and it does cause some mild tension. But 2C drivers do have an infamous reputation for rudeness and bad driving. I guess I'm used to it. And the farmers are very road-rage inducing when they take their equipment down the road, especially in this area.

I'm proud to be an Idahoan today! Actually, I didn't think that we were that bad around here. I guess I need to travel more. :)
People around here do complain an awful lot about Californians. I seriously doubt they are the reason Idaho tops the list though.

We really aren't. It's nothing like Arizona drivers, or drivers in Dallas. Got bad memories there. Bad Idaho drivers aren't really aggressive, just kind of thoughtless, I think.

#21, most hated by Californians, but the feeling is mutual. When you see a numbkins move on the road by a driver from another state, it's most often a California plate, followed by Texas, followed by the Wyoming plates who can't seem to force themselves to drive in the right-hand lane.

Actually, I can see it from the other way. When I first moved out here, I had California plates in the car. Well, back then, in the 1970s, when I wanted to make a lane change in California, I put on my turn signal, and the cars would generally give me room. I started driving in Colorado, and these jerks would rather let you sail off a cliff than let you merge in them so that they are slowed down, literally, about a tenth of a second. This then leads to the perception that we don't know how to use a turn signal. No. We do know how. It's just that we don't want to risk our lives doing so.

Other than that, Colorado driving is fine. Well, no one knows how to handle a four-way stop. But other than that. Well, the bicyclists can be incredibly arrogant, and car drivers can be incredibly oblivious to bicyclists. But other than that.........

Oh, never mind.

I think some places just have a problem with out-of-state drivers and treat them bad. When I went to Texas with Idaho plates, I had a lot of people driving aggressively toward me. I slapped a Don't Mess With Texas sticker on the bumper, and it stopped. Like magic.

Ever driven in MA? We view turn signals as a sign of weakness :)

I kid. Sort of.

My Dad taught me how to drive. Which is a good thing or bad thing depending on your point of view. Since Dad always drove like he was in a high speed pursuit he passed those defensive / aggressive driving habits on to my sister and I. As a result, I am not intimidated by other drivers. This can lead to extra attention from the local 5-0 from time to time.

No problems for Dad when he got pulled over, he would be on his way due to professional courtesy as he was a cop. My sister could usually charm her way out of a ticket if she got pulled over. I had to rely on politeness and logic. Which didn't always work :(

Typing this reminds me of the time I saw my Dad on the local news one night when I was about 13 or so. He and his partner had chased a kidnapping suspect from Boston to Norwell, which is a town about 25 miles or so south of Boston. I was all like "Mom! Dad's on TV!!". In the background was the unmarked car they were driving. With smoke pouring out from under the hood......
