I should have mentioned that the book was fiction, not religious history. It presented the characters in a different light than you would have imagined. As for women being treated as second class citizens at the time, have things really changed much? Sometimes I wonder.
Well I do not go around dressed like the virgin Mary at least - so that much has improved! =D

Well, I don't anymore. You didn't see our Catholic High School uniforms...:devil:and our high school was called - wait for it - Holy Heart of Mary! Powder blue blouses, brown jumpers (knee length, of course), brown knee socks and loafers. Charming!

Aren't you from Newfoundland? (just like Staropeace?) I went to Immaculate Heart of Mary in Scarborough for a while until we moved.

No kidding - I went to Holy Name, St. Michael's, St. Joseph's, St. Thomas Aquinas plus that old IHOM school (we moved a lot - Dad was in real estate - buying houses, renting out some and we lived in others). No wonder I am so mixed up now :tounge:
Mine started with St. Patricks, then St. Josephs ending with Holy Heart. With nuns everywhere, I guess it was just a habit.
