Which writer (or other person) would you wanna see Stephen in conversation with?

He has these events now every so often with talks with Lee Child and John Grisham. George Martin is coming up. I understand from Grisham that they have done these before, but it's so great you can see them on YouTube now when you can't be there.

Who would you like to see him do one of these evenings with?

I would most like Dean Koontz, because he clearly enjoys his work a lot. I don't know vice versa if Koontz is as much a King fan.
I wonder though if Koontz wants to do one. I only saw him do one such event and it was Koontz by himself. I always get the impression that (at least compared to Stephen) he's a far more solitary person - he also said that he couldn't write well with others. But still, you never know under the right circumstances.

An SK-DK conversation would be interesting to see, assuming DK was up for it and SK could find a way to winkle him out. The few things I've heard or read from Koontz seem to indicate that he'd be an interesting guy to hear more from, but he does seem far more shy and retiring than SK (though he, too, always comes across as a modest, down-to-earth but interesting guy).

If we're talking dreamland, and assuming such a thing hadn't already been done and I'd just not heard of it, I'd say Michael Crichton. It'd probably be best to keep them away from politics, though, right? (At least from a few things I've read or been told re: MC's beliefs and leanings.)
Of course it can never happen now, but hearing them talk about writing would have been sure to be insightful.

BTW, not_nadine, which one/ones?

I enjoy watching the King and Straub clans together on writing panels. I'm sure there is little new ground to plow but their discussions are always interesting and punctuated with unexpected jokes and familial teasing. Long days and pleasant nights, Mr. King. I'm more interested in with whom he'd like to have a bookish chat.
Certainly not Shirley Hazzard. ;)
