Hello SK fans,

I'm a New Jersey resident, and I live about an hour from New York City. I called the Union Square Barnes & Noble and was informed that (and I know this isn't news to some of you) people will begin lining up for Stephen King's 11/11/14 "Revival" book signing during the evening of 11/10. So, my question: Who's going, and when are you going to be there?

Even though my wife doesn't want me to go, I'm seriously considering catching the bus to NYC (with a sleeping bag and collapsible chair in tow) and making a night/day of it.

I'd like to think that me getting to New York around 8 p.m. would get me a spot in line for a wristband. I may even get there earlier.

So, in addition to "who's going?", I'd also like to know what else I should bring, other than a bunch of sweatshirts and pepper spray.

Before 8 PM?? Don't be ridiculous, that's insane, and it doesn't even make any sense. The store closes at 10 PM, so camping out at 8 isn't an option, I don't think it's even allowed. Might as well go at midnight. I plan on going but I don't think I'll be able to make it sooner than 5:30 AM. I hope it works out

As far as famous authors and their ilk go, they can keep their pens in their pocket when it comes to having to sign for me. I am not that dedicated to meeting them. The only folks I would stand in line to meet are my family members if we were separated by distance and time. I love the books but I do not need to meet the authors...just the way I am wired folks.

Hi Staropeace, I respect and understand your position. I suppose, for me, it's not just about opening up a book and seeing a signature. It's the story of getting it. It's the waiting on line that can be enjoyable, providing you're warm and next to nice people. It's the sharing of stories with those people, discussing your likes and dislikes about whatever to pass the time, and hopefully enhance it. There's also the anticipation of actually getting to say hello to someone you admire. And that's all I hope to do with Stephen King. Fledgling author that I am, in no way would I say, "oh, by the way, my new book was released last week and ...". No. No. No! That's bush league and pathetic. If anything, I'll say, hi, please make the book out to "eBay Auction Winner", and (I'm kidding! I'll ask him to make it out to Matt), and that it's nice to meet you, and perhaps "Salem's Lot is my favorite of your books, please write a sequel". Oh, I'll snap a few photos with my iPhone while I'm waiting on line, maybe try to sneak in a selfie while he's signing. And that's it. I'll thank him, look at the signature, and then catch the bus home to Jersey so I can sleep a few hours. I'm not one of these people who interrupts a celebrity at a restaurant for an autograph, or who would wait outside of a hotel where I know they're staying. To me, that's intrusive, rude and creepy. If the person is going out of his or her way to hold a book signing, then I figure, why not? I met Dave Barry at the same B&N a few years ago (thankfully I didn't have to sleep outside) and he couldn't have been a nicer guy. Life's short enough. It's probably the only time I'll ever get a chance to meet one of the authors who I grew up reading, and if it's going to happen less than an hour from my home, then why not go for it? But that's just me.

A friend and I are traveling out to NY as well (from NC, so it's a bit of a journey). We're stretching the trip out a few days so we can see a couple of Broadway shows as well, but because we're not from the area we have no idea what to expect with regard to when to line up. I was thinking we'd try to get there between the store closing and midnight?

That's about my stance as well staropeace. I've had my chances to meet SK in the past and just never wanted to. I'm not the "starstruck" kind.

I will definitely be there to camp out in NYC the night before. Probably around 9 or 10 pm. I'm coming from NJ as well. Going to bring sleeping bag, folding chair, snacks and a book. Hoping there will be a good group I can get to know so we can trade off for bathroom breaks, etc.

Have never camped out for a signing before but I am REALLY a excited for this one.
