This actually happened! My hubby is working in a placed called Baker Lake. A whale somehow ended up in the lake (summer of 2014). They (local people) went out in a boat and speared it. It's part of the Inuit culture - they do not do it for sport but traditionally they are hunters and gatherers. It was the first time they had ever seen a Beluga and they figure it got lost from the rest of the pod.
