DON'T YOU DARE SPEAK ILL OF ED WOOD.

I don't have to , his work speaks for itself. :D That said his films are fun to watch and are very entertaining and imaginative . The man is Icon , no question on that . If he had stuck to just being a producer and let others do the writing and directing, he would become very successful. He got these films made, that in and of itself is a talent.:cool:I think Ed Wood would have also done well as a producer of Music videos given the concepts he could come up with. if he were alive today he would have embraced the title of worst film maker.

My vote goes to Joel Schumacher. You don't put nipples on Batman's costume. You don't do close-up shots of his butt during suit-up sequences. Just...No.

The Batman franchise went decidedly downhill when he took over. But I think had he continued to do these, films sooner or later we might have gotten Batman The Musical .

Never been a John G. Avildsen fan. The first Rocky was good, but after that, he got hooked on telling the same underdog story over and over and over... He also brought us For Keeps, the one Molly Ringwald film that Molly Ringwald herself hates.

Another one: Bob Clark. To believe the guy that brought us A Christmas Story and Black Christmas also churned out Rhinestone, Baby Geniuses, and Loose Cannons.

Zack Snyder - the man is right up there with Michael Bay in terms of technical proficiency. He can compose a shot like nobody's business. But he is absolute rubbish at directing actors or evoking emotion. Everything of note he has done is soulless. Watchmen was ridiculously faithful adaptation of the source material with a good cast and still managed to be an uninteresting watch. And don't get me started on Man of Steel - that entire film is an apology for what Superman stands for. Anybody ever saw Henry Cavill in an interview? The guy's natural demeanour screams "Superman," and Snydner managed to suck out every ounce of charm Cavill has in two films.

William "One-Shot" Beaudine

"Beaudine is probably best remembered (if at all) for the "Bowery Boys" films in the '40s; however, my affection(?) for him stems from Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter and Billy the Kid vs Dracula. In one of these (I forget which) two characters are shown walking through a tunnel/mine, with one of them carrying a torch. So far, so good; but the stagehand with the spotlight manages to shine it everywhere except where the torchlight should logically be falling. (Beaudine got the nickname "One-Shot" because of his refusal to reshoot anything, even when faced with such gaffes.)"

I can't and wouldn't say because I have no right because I've never directed a movie, and most probably if I had to I would have a nervous breakdown and try to strangle one of the actors.

Steven Spielberg-technically proficient, but soulless
I have to disagree, some of his movies are overrated but damn that's a bit harsh. Jurassic Park soulless? Poltergeist soulless? Saving Private Ryan soulless? Jaws? Raiders of the lost Ark?

I'm not as big a fan of the "Close Encounters" or the "ET"s or the "Ready Player One"s, but Spielberg definitely has earned his praises.
