Heh! That's a hoot now...but when I saw it as a ten-year-old I got all serious and made the mistake of trying to go through life without looking foolish. The movie is one of the best, ever.
Dick Shawn's performance will always be one of my absolute favorites. As far as I'm concerned he stole the show, and that's saying something considering all the major stars in the movie.

Ethel Merman was my favourite. She was great. And really liked whoever it was that played the truckdriver... And Mickey Rooney, Buddy Hackett and Terry Thomas was great too.

don't wanna shake any fillings loose...but this oughta do ya...I think the same kinda thing happens same areas of road, often on hills and inclines, when we have snow cover. Remember going a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-ah! as a kid when the old Falcon hit a patch? How'd we think to do that?

How about lying in bed late at night early morning all quiet...save for the sound of that vehicle out there on the highway...bump-bump...bump-bump...or thump-thump if you will...as it approaches passing over the expansion joints in the asphalt? Helps if the window is open, but I'm talkin summer. Don't believe that can be captured in a photo. Video maybe.

The truck driver was Jonathan Winters!
Who would have thought that Spencer Tracy could be so funny, too? I love that movie so much!
