I'm curious. Who would be your perfect choice in a writer to have their own reality television show? Dead or alive, doesn't matter (well, it can't be a zombie writer reality show!). My choice would be Harlan Ellison. I think he has lived a very interesting life and is very, very outspoken, which would lead to some really dramatic television.

With most writers I know, it would be dead boring-lol. When writers are writing, it would be a lot of watching someone pound away at a computer or keyboard (maybe go a little crazy and write longhand). Research (if you're not fortunate enough to have people do that for you)! Yelling at the screen and considering throwing the damn thing across the room might be the high point :)

Sounds likely. I doubt that watching anyone stare at a screen or writing on a keyboard. But in earlier times perhaps? How about Dante? All his political twists in real life might be clearer and some interesting personal comments on all those popes he placed in Hell. Could be interesting. Perhaps Chaucer when he ran away from the Plague and wrote Canterbury tales. What tale was not included? They must really have been hot since some of his stories really aren't for children.

Might encompass numerous emotions of boredom, suspense, fear, anticipation ---- sort of like watching a live web cam of Eagle eggs hatching and raising of their young. Guess it would depend of the writer and the writing process he/she uses.
Very true. And KRF is right--there are some writers who live very exciting lives outside of the actual writing. :)

Yes, that's what I meant- a reality show that lets us see what goes on outside of the writing process- what their daily lives would be like, how they interact with the common folken, etc.

Years ago I recommended a show for writers to Marsha where wannabe authors had to run mazes-- one part of the maze consisting of people throwing #2 pencils at them and any that stuck took points away from their winning. I had a whole damn show planned out and told Marsha to have Stephen's people call my people and we would get together with Mark Burnett and hammer out a deal.

OMG ...please...Lord Byron, and his sister and Mary Shelly and Persey and Byrons "ligit" daughter.

Mary Shelly was ACTUALY the first Sci-fi writer of ALL TIME
Byrons ligit duaghter was ACTUALY the first computer programmer
of ALL TIME.

Lord byron and his whole crew are the best choice

Those people would make the Osbournes look boring (well, I haven't watched the Osbournes, because it does sound boring, but just sayin'). Wasn't there a movie that dramatized the fateful time those folks had together about the time when Frankenstein was spawned?

Mark Twain. I understand he was quite a character.

Oh, man, I can just imagine touring Germany with him, hearing him cuss splendidly at trying to master the language, and then his comments as he writes his essay The Awful German Language.
