LOL... yeah SHE thought of that ALL on her own. Nostradamus got a few right too, but we don't base foreign policy on him.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. It proves nothing. Putin will do this regardless of our response because he knows we won't go to war over something like this. But hey, a ground war in Russia... probably a fantastic idea! Wonder if anyone's ever tried that?

Yeah, that Obama, what a pushover. Idiot! Being smart and understanding history! We need someone to swing their d!ck around so the GOP will be happy!
I just wrote Sarah Palin a letter.

(For reference, this got moved from my hijack in a political thread and the conversation mentioned Sarah Palin. The squirrel that I am saw that dangly piece of information and got all excited. lol.)

I hope you used small words
hahaha. I struggled. Periodically over the years, starting when my kids were little and after reading a book by Carolyn See called, The Making of a Literary Life, I started writing people letters.

Well, my son is 24 now and wanted me to write Sarah. I asked him, "WTH am I supposed to say to her, I'm not going to lie."

Dear Sarah,

I think you are seriously ********.
Write me back!

Love Dana

I can't fill in the blank because it's a totally politically incorrect thing to call someone. But it's how I think of her. Anyway, that note wasn't going to work -- soo0,

My son said, just say what you honestly can. I just told her she definitely kept politics interesting--which she does and my son enjoyed seeing her speak on his college campus, which he did. He was 4 rows away from her and said she is very tiny but has a huge head. (For the record, he thinks the same about her as me but you keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Politics, you need to know what the enemy is thinking and how they work it.)

I have personalized note cards. and I line the envelopes with paper that matches the person I'm writing. I melt wax and seal the envelopes with a D and I use stamps that again sort of go with the person I'm sending them to. For instance, when I wrote Bill clinton, his stamps were the ones out now, Building a Nation.

It's fun. I had to explain to the postal clerk why I was sending The Pope, The Queen (sent her one previous, did it again with my new notecards) Sarah Palin and Michael Caine fancy invitation looking things. They are thick, my address is printed on the back flap of the envelope, and it costs me an extra 21 cents to have them hand canceled due to the wax stamp I seal them with.

I'm sure I'm on a watch list and my notes are being opened by skilled workers in Hazmat suits.

Sorry for the hijack.

I don't remember. But just know, I live in a state that probably bowed down to her and worshipped her. I've always said, Charles Manson could literally win any political seat he wanted in this state as long as he had that little R behind his name.

I used to write a lot of personal notes, but I always got caught passing them in class.......:(
I'm halfway through life. Old. It's been decades since I was in school. I just last year cleaned out my attic. I had a bag filled with notes from high school. It was crazy. They made me laugh and I thought about bundling them to the different people they were to and from and taking them to a class reunion. But, I don't go to class reunions, and I sounded like a total dweeb in the notes--didn't want physical evidence of my dweebiness floating around out in the world so I destroyed them.

For the record, I'm a much more sophisticated dweeb with these new notes.

You must live near me :)

For the record, I don't self-identify with any political party. I call myself a Sensible Pragmatist :) A fool is a fool (and vice versa), no matter what little letter is left dangling off their end.

I love your note idea! Have you heard back from anyone?

I have heard back from a couple. I'll make a list of who I've written so far. I started this over 20 years ago and although I kept track of who I wrote, I didn't keep track of the book I wrote that information in. ha! I'll try to do my best.

And, to be honest. I have issues that I am very liberal on, and I have issues that I am very conservative on. Around here, I just vote for who I think will do the best job.

Exactly. More socially liberal, but conservative fiscally and militarily(for me, anyway). You've heard Churchill's quote, I'm sure: "If you are not a liberal at 20, you have no heart. If you are not conservative by 40, you have no brain." I must have half of both :D
