I have hopefully I will hear something. But I know she must be up there in age and perhaps isn't able to respond. Cause she has always been a note writer herself.
Well, even if she is unable to, I know your note meant a lot to her. I know it did. She made a difference in someone's life and someone thought enough to take the time to tell her that. She will cherish it.

Good job! My last person I heard from was Don Rickles, so need to send out some more myself. It is so fun to get something in the mailbox!
I have yet gotten anything back. but with my eye sight,I have set the goal of writing people That I have always thought about writing. One of those don't want to regret not doing.

I need to do this to some people in my life - it keeps nagging at me to write my old bosses - 2 of them - they were partners in a firm together. They saved me from a wreck of a job. They were so kind and taught me so many things. I remember my interview with them - I had to make early in the morning so I could get to my job, at the time, on time - but that interview changed my life. My job at the time had ruined me - my hair was falling out, I was way overweight, my fashion was horrible. But those two saw beyond all that, took me on for my knowledge of the architectural industry, took a chance on me and that moment with them changed my entire life. I bet they'd like to know that. I left the job 7 years into it to stay home with a baby, and then had another. Anyhow, I should write them. I think I'd feel better if I did.
I'm quoting myself here, but I posted this right before my
breakdown
, and now I'm more determined than ever to write these letters. I'd be kicking myself the rest of my life if something happened to one of them before I got to say "Thank you for taking a chance on me".

Well, today in the mail I got a card from Lisa See for promotion of her new book, China Dolls. It lists upcoming appearances and she will be in my area. She hand wrote a note to say she hoped to see me there.

Her mother has sent me promotional cards of all of Lisa's books since I read the mom's book, Making a Literary Life by Carolyn See. I wrote Carolyn a personal note years ago after reading it, and she so sweetly responded and has since kept me updated on Lisa's career. It's pretty cool. And yes, I am hoping to attend -- got some things in the fire though, so may not be able too.

A doctor I used to work for helped me out of a bad spot by getting me a job with another group of docs at a medical school. It was a great job. Anyway, I'd always meant to write him (even though this was back in 1990!), and then he died very unexpectedly. I still regret not writing that letter.

Ish! One more reason I need to get this done! I will do these letters before the end of Lent. I know they will be appreciated - they were really great men to work for, and I learned so much. I couldn't do the job I have now if they hadn't taught me the things they did.

Telling someone they made a difference in your life is huge. Yes, please sistah wife, try to tell them before it's too late. Like SusanNorton, I had 2 someones I really wanted to write and let them know how much they meant to me as a child, but unfortunately I found they had passed away and I didn't get to tell them. I did sign the funeral home guest book and let the family know, but I would sure have liked to have told them.

Maybe someday someone will tell me I made a difference in their life, and that, my friends, will make my day and a life well lived.

Yep - I'm doing it. This Lent I'm trying something different - clearly not giving up sweets, I just ate 10 oreos dipped in milk! I'm trying to just be better, do better, make a difference. I know there are more out there that I should write, but these two - they just believed in me when I was nearly sick of myself.

This will mean more to them than you probably will ever realize. But it is a gift you give them.

Wow - signing the funeral book. :(

The night I found out that the doctor died, I was so upset, and then had to drive somewhere (unrelated). I cried the whole way, and just talked to him, and told him I'd always thought that I'd see him again, or write him, or something, and then just told him what he'd meant to me and my life. I hope he heard me - I felt like he did.

For starters, Pat Conroy lives nearby. My dad knew Tom Berenger. One of my mom's friends went to school with Johnny Depp. I'm friends with Jackie Earle Haley on Facebook. I'm also FB friends with a director that's worked with Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dennis Hopper, Andrew Dice Clay, Ice-T, Charlie Sheen and countless others.
