I didn't notice the Mercedes, but it IS interesting now that you mention it.
Not one of my favorites either-but I liked the way the tension increased as their road trip "went to hell!" ;-D
Overall I did enjoy this story more than some of the others. I just started "The House on Maple Street" but had to put it down, so I hope I can get back into it soon.

You never know, I am sure he likes to be comfortable when he travels. He mentioned one time that he does a lot of driving in an interview. It isn't like you would expect him to drive a crappy Honda a beat to hell Kia.
Being so tall might have something to do with it - more leg room probably.

Not sure but they had a pet name for the car - something female (sorry my book is upstairs right now - I have come unprepared!) :a11::sadface:
No Problem, Hon. I'm just glad you came.

My favorite sentence...
"The reptile that lived on the floor of his brain, the one in charge of self-preservation, would simply slither out of its hole in the mud and take charge of things."
You're right, that was a good sentence. We can tell he has had that part of his brain 'kick in' a time or two in his life. Just by how he worded the sentence. His word choices are so pinpoint accurate.

Sounds like he has been on such a trip as the one described in this story.

It is funny but I sort of went through something similar this summer on the way to the KingKon in Ohio. A long road trip is really hard on a couple. I recall the feeling when we got lost going into Chicago - that was awful! (We were supposed to bypass it completely and ended up going through it instead - it was hell and delayed our arrival by hours).
