Got another copy of the stand today . Not sure why so many differences but here are several pics. One is a bit smaller than the other. One has Red writing, one has gold. One has 1092 on the back of the dust jacket. One has a price one has none and the ISBN is different.

Thanks this one had me confused and didn't say BC anywhere.
It also has the 1092 number on the dj, which is a bookclub code. Also, a regular trade edition will include the price on the back on the bar code. For instance, on the back of The Stand (the complete and uncut version) atop the smaller set of bars it has 52495, which I'm assuming the 5 stands for the month it was printed (May) and the 2495 is what the retail price was when it was published. Hope this helps.

I have a bunch of books, where everything is proper for a first edition, but there is no price on the dj. Are they all book club editions? And would getting different dj's make them first editions?
Not really, you'd only be fooling yourself. A true book person would still be able to tell the difference even if you switched out the dj's. Sometimes it's the feel of the pages themselves, sometimes it would be the actual weight of the book itself. I can probably be blindfolded and be able to tell the difference between King's books. Not bragging, it's just the fact that I know too much about Steve's books.

Oh, sweetheart, I have mislead you then. I forgot that it was the one with the Thomas Holdorf cover. It is NOT a bookclub then! Mine has the price of $50.00 on it, so you must have an earlier printing with this cover. Say sorry!!!

I used to think that the book club editions were smaller than the normal ones. So these were proper. I'm going to have to go through my collection tonight, and weed out the imposters.

It used to be that the BC editions always were smaller, but within the last ten years or so they have made them almost identical to the ones sold in the bookstores. As a matter of fact, I have now begun to see BC editions being sold on the remainder tables at Barnes & Nobles!

Same here. Back in October I saw a BCE of Dark Half on the bargain table in a Books a Million.
