Bought an anthology called Thrilling Tales today that has a story by Mr. King that I've never even heard of: "The Tale of Gray Dick", as well as many other stories by authors I enjoy :) Can't wait to dive into this one!
The Tale Of Gray Dick is an excerpt from one of the Dark Tower books. I think from Wolves Of The Calla?

It never hurts to re-read a King tale, luv. ;-D
You were absolutely correct, and I enjoyed it once again. Wolves isn't one of my favorites, but this bit reminded me of the beauty of Mr. King's prose: no matter that I'm lukewarm about this particular book as a whole, because this excerpt was such a perfect distillation of all that's good in his writing. It was just lovely. :)

I read it before I read the foreword, where I got a good grin from Michael Chabon giving Mr. King the title of "Last Master of the Plotted Short Story."

He is so right.

Went to Value Village today and came home with these little gems:

Bachman Books is a 4th printing, but I snatch up all hardback copies when I run across them (they will supplement my retirement!) and the 2012 bluray is the deluxe edition that has three discs in it. I hope I will be able to get that pesky price sticker off of the cover of the omnibus.

I'm not sure if this counts. :umm:I've ordered my signed copy of the Fireman from Waterstreet Books in Exeter, which arrives on 1/3.
I asked, and evidently he will sign Lock and Key for me:sneakiness: if I order through them, but they ask how I want it signed. Can anyone give me some insight regarding the benefits of flatsigning versus personal inscription? It looks to me like a several thousand dollar difference. I hadn't planned on selling . . However, if I collect these it might be a better idea to order two.

If you consider the book as an investment that you will eventually resell, you'd want to have it flatsigned. If it's for your personal use and you don't care about how much someone would pay for it, you would be okay with a personal inscription.

....agreed.....I have a flatsigned copy, it's cool and all, but lacks the warmth one of his doodles would bring to it....

I got the original Salem's Lot TV movie on Blu-Ray on Black Friday- after all of the discounts and coupons it came to slightly over $5. Watched it with the director's commentary; I love seeing how practical effects were done in films before CGI took over everything. (I also found I liked this version of Weasel a bit more this time around; while I still think he's a more sympathetic character in the book and more likeable in the remake, I wish we'd gotten to see more of Elisha Cook Jr. in this movie.)

I also picked up Charlie the Choo Choo while the forums were closed.
