It's kind of king related in the sense that everyone seems to insist that he is king's rival/nemesis - I just picked up icebound by dean koontz. Apparently he wrote it under a pseudonym in the 70s and revised it in 95. It's the first koontz book I've ever bought (although I was once given a disc with about 30 ebooks of his for my kobo - haven't gotten around to reading any yet though). It was £1 from my local cancer charity shop.
When Kontz revised Icebound he added alot of new words- the original is about half the size of the revised edition. I like the original better.

I only bought it to give him a try, the synopsis on the back of the book sounded a bit like an old X-Files episode I vaguely remember. As for original vs revised, I have the advantage of not having anything to compare the newer
version to.

Koontz, my friend, Koontz haha

I noticed that, but when typing his name, kontz is far from the worst typo you could make.......

Yes, I know it's Koontz, I've been having trouble on the SKMB lately- when I am posting or replying to something some of the letters are getting dropped. You should have seen my post before I corrected it! It was half the length it was before (that's what she said!). I have updated my browser so hopefully it won't be a problem now.

It's hard to find those elder books by King. These books he wrote 70's, 80's and 90's. Now I found a place on internet
where they sell these books. They don't have all books. But some of the elder books. I ordered couple of books that I don't have in my shelf.

Jojo, those aren't really too hard to find. I just hope you didn't overpay for them.

John

I have hard to find them because I read all SK books in Swedish and Finnish and all elderly translated SK books I have borrowed from the library.
Some I have bought, what I've found on flea market. There is still so many I don't have. Those books was really cheap.

I've had a good week for Goodwill book shopping. With a 20% off sale, these books went from CHEAP to cheaper... $1.53 for hardcovers and .62 cents for paperbacks.

Wastelands- I now have an extra copy of the paperback with the illustrations. Even though I already have the book, this new copy is in better condition than my old copy. I may one day be able to pass the extra book onto someone reading the Dark Tower.

Cell(hardcover)

Intensity and Mr. Murder both by Dean Koontz (both hardcover)

The Hot Kid by Elmore Leonard (hardcover)

Underboss: Sammy Gravano's Story of Life in the Mafia by Peter Maas (hardcover)

The Outfit: The Role of Chicago's Underworld in the Shaping of Modern America by John Russo (paperback)

I Don't Want to Go to Jail by Jimmy Breslin (paperback)- Don't know much about the book other than it's a dark-comedy about bumbling mobsters on the east coast.

In 50 Years We'll All Be Chicks by Adam Carolla (paperback)- I think Adam Carolla is hilarious and he has some radical views that make sense.

I keep running up to the Goodwill every day. I'm sitting at home reading, and I always get the feeling I'm missing out on more good finds. The SK books are grabbed-up so fast, I always feel lucky to find one myself. I also donated some old doubles and paperbacks I won't ever read again.

I'm sorry, but I can't handle e-books. I don't like them, I'll never like them; the white light from the computer screen gives me a headache.
E readers have mostly all got "e-ink" which has been developed to replicate ink on a page as closely as possible, and most aren't back lit. Some have leds at the bottom to "up light" them as an option. They are not the same as the real thing but they are good.
