Got 8 books for the total price of one Dollar!! Some were classics, like Robinson Crusoe (complete and unabridged) which means that i can get rid of my swedish translation, and some just looked interesting and to that price its worth to take a chance. Two Jane Austen (not my fave but to that price its worth picking them up) And a Golding. I got Anthony Doerrs All The Light We can Not See. Sounded interesting. Jodi Picaults Vanishing Acts. Is She any good? Heard things about her but havent read anything. Sleight of hand by Kate Wilhelm. She was a good SF author that changed direction and started to write crimenovels. So i decided to check them up. And a true crime book by Ann Rule; Mortal Danger. Have no clue if shes any good or not.
I've read one Anne Rule book. It was a gift and was good but I don't normally like reading true crime books as I don't want to know that there are murderers out there.....

You are in for a treat! This is a beautiful book. The writing is poetic and the story inspirational. Let me know what you think. EMARX (a member here) recommended it to me. I miss him and wish he would return.
Thank you! I had heard good things about it but hearing it from you makes it a certainty. Moving it forward in my TBR pile!

It gives me the creeps too (especially when I read about psychopaths and sociopaths) like those two in Ontario who killed the young girls :jaded:
Yes, I don't want to know that those kinds of people are out there walking around just waiting to snap. I think it goes back to when I read Helter Skelter when I was about 14. That book scarred me.....

found City of Mirrors at a used book store while in FL. the third book of Justin Cronin's trilogy. tired of waiting on the paperback, so i bought the hardcover, and it was cheaper than buying the paperback new would be anyway. also picked up a third novel by John Darnton, called Mind Control. i enjoyed the last two, The Experiment and Neanderthal so i went ahead and grabbed it when i saw it. he's a sci fi kind of guy. the prices were a bit higher than i liked and their selection was kind of limited so i didn't get anything else while there.

Two or three days ago I bought the paperback of John Grisham's The Appeal from the thrift store. Not sure if I read it before from checking it out from the library one time or not. Oh well.
I know I've read it but couldn't even tell you what it was about. I like Grisham books because I always learn something from them.

Went to my second hand bookstore today. 10 books for a dollar! They are practically giving them away. So even if i don't really have the room i felt i had to give a home to some books. Got Gai-Jin by James Clavell, 4.50 from Paddington and The Unexpected Guest by Agatha Christie, Dragon Tears by Koontz (Is it any good any of you Koontz knowledgeable out there?), Death of a Red Heroine by Qiu Xiaolong (a mystery story situated in Shanghai), The Vivero Letter by Desmond Bagley, The Hornet Flight by Ken Follett, The Cold Moon by Jeffrey Deaver (a Lincoln Rhyme story) and a true crime book Unsolved Murders and Mysteries edited by John Canning. Also a book called a Study in Silks by Emma Jane Holloway about a niece to Sherlock Holmes who solves mysteries. Never heard of but to that price who cares? If its a disaster i can always return it so they can sell it again.

I've read almost all of Deaver's books and if I remember correctly, The Cold Moon is a good one. I love his Lincoln Rhyme novels.
